The profound and unique feature of the Nyingma tradition is the teaching and
practice of Dzogchen. O f the two aspects of Dzogchen, trekcho and togal, the
practice of trekcho is the more basic approach, and anyone intending to take
up the practice of trekcho must first of all train in the preliminary practices.
The practice o f Dzogchen, moreover, depends on the extraordinary blessings
of an experienced master— a man or woman w ho has realization— infusing
your mindstream.
When Dzogchen is explained, first there is the ground; on the basis of how
the ground abides there is the path; and on the basis of that, the fruition.
The ground in Dzogchen is fundamentally the buddha nature, the
tathagatagarbha. In the sources o f the Madhyamaka philosophical school, this
buddha nature is primarily described as being the very nature of the mind
itself. Its nature is emptiness, and it is such that there is a continuum of
consciousness, clear and aware, that has always been there and that will
finally attain buddhahood.

In the context of the ground, we can speak o f an impure state, in that there is
a failure to recognize the true nature of this clear and pure awareness, rigpa.
Instead, we fall under the influence of rigpa s own energy and inner power,
and when that energy cannot stay in its own place, we slip under the control
of—or rather follow after— arising thoughts. Since rigpa cannot stand on its
own, what results is samsara. O n the other hand, if rigpa can hold its own
ground, without falling under the influence of thoughts, that is the basis for
nirvana. Given that the basis of all samsara and nirvana is to be found in this
fundamental innate mind of clear light— uncompounded rigpa— this is the
ground for Dzogchen.
The third immovable refers to the mind itself. Here the mind is not active. You
do not entertain any thoughts at all, w hether recalling the past or thinking
about the future. Simply rest in the present moment of awareness, fresh and
uncontrived. W ithout any kind of examining or analyzing whatsoever, the m
ind dwells, tranquil and at peace, in a non-conceptual state.
This is the basis from which you start.
O terceiro imóvel se refere à própria mente. Aqui a mente é não ativo. Você
não nutre pensamentos, seja qual for recordando o passado ou pensando no
futuro. Simplesmente descanse no momento presente de conscientização,
fresco e incontroverso. Sem nenhuma tipo de examinar ou analisar qualquer
coisa, a mente habita, tranqüila e em paz, em um estado não-conceitual.

As you maintain this state and continue your practice over a period of time,
this stupidity and dullness can, when certain factors come into play, be
gradually removed. Rigpa— because there is a distinction to be made between
the ordinary mind and rigpa here—becomes fully evident, extremely clear and
lucid, undistorted by the thoughts and concepts o f the ordinary mind, and
divested o f the stupid quality of the stable alaya. Rigpa is capable of being
aware of anything, but is not sullied by ordinary thought processes or by
grasping at and following after objects.This extraordinary essence of rigpa is
what is to be recognized and experienced, and trekcho practice consists of
maintaining the presence of that natural state of rigpa.
À medida que você mantém esse estado e continua sua prática ao longo de
