Abstract
8
Brazil is the country with the highest prevalence of anxiety in the world,
reaching 9.3% of the population and according to data from the World Health
Organization (WHO) 40% of Brazilians have disturbances that disturb sleep.
The quality of sleep is of paramount importance for the performance of the
functions of the human organism, because it is during sleep that the brain will
reestablish its physiological conditions and metabolic balance, directly
impacting the quality of life. This research aims to analyze the pharmacological
treatment of anxiety and sleep disorders with anxiolytic drugs from data in the
literature. A literature review was carried out on the subject "analysis of the
pharmacological treatment of anxiety and sleep disorders with anxiolytic drugs".
The search for scientific articles occurred in the databases: Lilacs, Pubmed and
Scielo. Different authors show that the use of anxiolytic drugs for the treatment
of anxiety and sleep disorders are effective. Among these, the class of
benzodiazepines are drugs that act depressing the central nervous system and
are among the most used today. Drugs of the classes of antidepressants, 5-HT
1A receptor agonists and barbiturates are also effective for this type of
treatment. Although these drugs present a potential risk of developing addiction,
tolerance and withdrawal, anxiolytics are safe drugs for the treatment of anxiety
and sleep disorders, and are the most used in clinical practice. In addition, there
is a strong growth in the use of herbal medicines such as Passiflora incarnata,
Valeriana officinalis and Melissa officinalis in alternative and complementary
therapy in the treatment of anxiety and sleep disorders. This growth is related
to the dissatisfaction with the results obtained with the treatment of allopathic
medicine, where the synthetic drugs present a great risk of occurrence of
undesirable effects. Thus, it is necessary to develop new therapeutic
alternatives that present lower risks of promoting adverse effects, since the
available alternatives are scarce and the studies incipient.

1 INTRODUÇÃO
10
Assim, a
ansiolíticos mais utilizados para o tratamento da ansiedade e distúrbio do sono;

3.1 ANSIEDADE
fenobarbital, pentobarbital, secobarbital e amobarbital (fig.02) (BRASIL, 2017).
