A FORMAÇÃO DO GERÚNDIO COM -ING

ING – REGRAS
Para dizer que algo está acontecendo ou que alguém está fazendo algo, acrescentamos a
terminação -ing no verbo.

 VERBOS TERMINADOS EM:

o E - tire o E e acrescente -ing.
 Exemplo: to dance (dançar) – dancing (dançando)
o IE - tire o ie e acrescente -ying.
 to die (morrer) – dying (morrendo)
to lie (mentir) – lying (mentindo)
to tie (amarrar) – tying (amarrando)
o C.V.C (consoante + vogal + consoante), dobre a última letra e acrescente o -ing.
Exemplos:
 to stop (parar) – stopping (parando)
to swim (nadar) – swimming (nadando)
o Y, EE, X, W – SOMENTE ACRESCENTA ing no final do verbo.
o PARA OS DEMAIS VERBOS:

o SOMENTE ACRESCENTA ing NO FINAL DO VERBO

Exemplos:
 to eat (comer) – eating (comendo)
 to drink (beber) – drinking (bebendo)
