Rules

1. Quando o verbo principal termina em consoante + –e, retiramos a vogal e

acrescentamos o –ing.
Exemplos:

 Dance  dancing
 Take  Taking
 Come  Coming

2. Quando o verbo termina em –ie, trocaremos a terminação por –y + -ing

Exemplos:

 Die  Dying
 Lie  Lying

3. Quando o verbo terminar em CVC (consoante + vogal + consoante),

duplicaremos a última consoante e acrescentaremos o –ing.
Exemplos:

 Swim  Swimming
 Travel  Travelling
 Run  Running

! Quando a última consoante é w ou x, ela não é dobrada.

(Exemplo: Snow  Snowing)

! Quando a sílaba tônica for a primeira, não dobraremos a letra final.
