O ingresso no curso pode ser efectuado atravs do Concurso Nacional de Acesso ao Ensino Superior e ainda atravs de Concursos Especiais de Acesso, Regimes Especiais de Acesso e Regimes de Mudana de Curso e Transferncia. Para se candidatarem ao ensino superior atravs do concurso nacional os estudantes devem satisfazer as condies referidas na seco 8 (Condies de Acesso ao Ensino Superior).

4.2. REQUISITOS DO PROGRAMA DE ESTUDOS

O curso est estruturado em anos curriculares. Estes formatam-se em disciplinas. O conjunto de disciplinas de cada ano curricular tem como mximo 35 unidades de crdito (UBI) ou 60 ECTS. O nmero total de unidade de crdito (UBI/ECTS) necessrias concluso do curso de 159/300 sendo obtido por acumulao de crditos associados a disciplinas integradas nas reas cientficas (obrigatrias/opcionais) constantes da estrutura curricular. O tempo lectivo de um ano escolar de 30 semanas ( Disciplinas anuais 30 semanas, Disciplinas semestrais 15 semanas ). O ano escolar, que compreende os perodos lectivo e de avaliao, tem a durao de 42 semanas. O aluno inscreve-se por norma nas disciplinas do plano de estudos, sequencialmente, por ano curricular. A inscrio s disciplinas feita no mximo a 45 unidades de crdito, das quais at 35 unidades de crdito em primeira inscrio.

4.4 SISTEMA DE CLASSIFICAO E EVENTUAIS ORIENTAES SOBRE ATRIBUIO DE NOTAS

O sistema de classificao de cada disciplina da qualificao expresso na escala de 0 a 20 de acordo com o Sistema de Avaliao que consta na seco 8, sendo a classificao 10/20 em todas as disciplinas do plano de estudos, o requisito para aprovao e obteno do diploma. A classificao final da qualificao obtm-se a partir de uma ponderao das classificaes das disciplinas correlacionadas pelos valores das unidades de crdito (UBI) e dos coeficientes de ponderao por rea cientfica e ano curricular, respectivamente, em conformidade com o estabelecido nas seces 4.3 e 6.1.

8. INFORMAO SOBRE O SISTEMA NACIONAL DE ENSINO SUPERIOR

O Sistema de ensino bsico e secundrio: A Lei de Bases do Sistema Educativo ( Lei n. 46/86 de 14 de Outubro, posteriormente alterada, nalguns dos seus articulados, pela Lei n. 115/97 de 19 de Setembro), estabelece o quadro geral do sistema educativo. A educao escolar desenvolve-se em trs nveis: os ensinos bsico, secundrio e superior. A educao prescolar opcional e destina-se a crianas com idades entre os 3 anos e a idade de ingresso no 1. ciclo do ensino bsico. A educao prescolar facultativa e ministrada em estabelecimentos de educao pr escolar suportados pelo Ministrio da Educao (com a colaborao das autoridades locais e regionais) e outros organismos pblicos e privados. O ensino bsico universal, obrigatrio e gratuito e compreende trs ciclos sequenciais, sendo o 1. de quatro anos, o 2. de dois e o 3. de trs anos. O ensino secundrio facultativo e compreende um ciclo de trs anos (10., 11. e 12. anos de escolaridade). garantida a permeabilidade entre os cursos predominantemente orientados para a vida activa e os cursos predominantemente orientados para o prosseguimento de estudos. Condies de acesso ao ensino superior O ingresso em cada instituio e curso de ensino superior est sujeito ao numerus clausus. Para se candidatarem ao ensino superior atravs do concurso nacional os estudantes devem satisfazer as seguintes condies: - Ter aprovao num curso de ensino secundrio ou habilitao legalmente equivalente; - Ter realizado as provas de ingresso exigidas por esse curso nesse estabelecimento; - Ter uma nota de candidatura mnima exigida por cada estabelecimento; - Satisfazer os pr-requisitos caso sejam exigidos para esse curso nesse estabelecimento. Organizao do ensino superior O ensino superior portugus est dividido em dois subsistemas: ensino universitrio e ensino superior politcnico. O ensino universitrio ministrado em instituies universitrias pblicas e privadas e o ensino superior politcnico ministrado em instituies de ensino superior no universitrias pblicas e privadas. As instituies de ensino superior particular e cooperativo carecem de reconhecimento prvio do Ministrio da Educao. As instituies universitrias e politcnicas conferem os graus de bacharel e de licenciado. Os graus mestre e doutor so conferidos unicamente pelas instituies universitrias. Os cursos conducentes ao grau de bacharel tm um durao de 3 anos. Os cursos conducentes ao grau de licenciado podem variar de 4 a 6 anos dependendo da rea de estudos. Os cursos conducentes ao grau mestre tm uma durao de 4 semestres compreendendo a frequncia do curso de especializao e a apresentao de uma dissertao original. Podem candidatar-se aos cursos de mestrado os licenciados com a classificao mnima de 14 valores e excepcionalmente, aps apreciao curricular a realizar pelo rgo competente da instituio de ensino superior, os licenciados com a classificao inferior a 14 valores. O grau de doutor s concedido pela instituio universitria aps a elaborao e defesa de uma tese original (tese de doutoramento). Podem candidatar-se a este grau os titulares do grau mestre ou equivalente, os licenciados com a classificao mnima de 16 valores ou qualificao equivalente e os detentores de um currculo cientfico, acadmico e profissional que ateste capacidade para a habilitao ao grau de doutor, aps apreciao curricular realizada pelo rgo competente da universidade que confere o grau. Admission to the programme is possible through one of the following: Concurso Nacional de Acesso ao Ensino Superior (National Application for Admission to Higher Education); Concursos Especiais de Acesso (Special Applications for Admission); Regimes Especiais de Acesso (Special Application for Admission) and Regimes de Mudana de Curso e Transferncia (Course Change or Transfer Systems). The students who follow the national application procedure must fulfil the requirements defined in section 8 (General Admission Requirements).
4. INFORMATION ON THE CONTENTS AND RESULTS GAINED
4.1. MODE OF STUDY:

4.2. PROGRAMME REQUIREMENTS:

The programme is structured in academic years composed by course units. The course units of an academic year amount to a maximum of 35 UBI credits or 60 ECTS. The UBI/ECTS credits required to complete the programme are 159/300. These are obtained by accumulation of the credits allocated to the course units, which are organised into the (compulsory/elective) scientific areas of the curriculum. The academic year has a duration of 42 weeks including lectures and assessment periods. The lectures run for 30 weeks (annual course units) or 15 weeks (semestrial course units). The enrolment in each academic year follows the sequence of course units defined in the curriculum. The maximum UBI credits allowed for each enrolment is 45 from which up to 35 credits correspond to new course units.

8. INFORMATION ON THE NATIONAL HIGHER EDUCATION SYSTEM

System of basic and secondary education: The Comprehensive Law on the Education System (Law n. 46/86, of 14 October, subsequently amended in respect of certain clauses by Law n. 115/97, of 19 September) establishes the framework for the education system. School education encompasses the following stages of teaching: basic, secondary and higher education. Pre-school education is optional and designed for children between the ages of three and the age for admission to the first cycle of basic education. Pre-school education is run free in nursery classes of the public sector supported by Ministry of Education (with the collaboration of regional or local authorities) and other public or private organisations. Basic education is universal compulsory and free, and consists of 3 consecutive cycles. The first cycle lasts for 4 years, the second cycle for 2 years and the third cycle lasts for 3 years. Secondary education is not compulsory and it comprises a 3years cycle (10th, 11th and 12th years of schooling). Permeability is guaranteed between courses mainly geared to working life (technology courses) and those mainly geared to continued studies (general courses). General admission requirements Access to higher education is subject to a numerus clausus. In order to quality for admission to higher education through the national competition students are required to: - Have successfully completed the 12th year of schooling or equivalent; - Have completed the national specific examinations in accordance with the higher education course the student wishes to attend; - Have obtained a minimum mark when required; - Have fulfilled the prerequisites for the higher education course the student wishes to attend, if required. Structure of the higher education Higher education in Portugal is devided into two subsystems: university and non-university higher education (polytecnical education) and it is provided in public and private universities and non-university higher education institutions (both public and private). Private higher education institutions cannot operate without having been recognised by Ministry of Education. Both Universities and Polytechnic institutions can award the bacharel and licenciado degrees, while the degrees of Mestre and Doutor can only be awarded by universities. Courses leading to the bacharel degree have a normal duration of three years, are designed to train professionals to higher education standard, preparing them to enter the labour market. Course leading to the licenciado degree usually take 4 years, but may last for 5 or 6 years, depending on the field of the studies. Courses leading to the mestre degree have a duration of 4 semesters and include the attendance of lectures and the preparation and discussing of an original dissertation. It is only open to those who have obtained at least 14 marks, along a scale of 0 to 20, in their former licenciado or a legally equivalent degree. Holders of a licenciado degree may also be admitted to a mestrado course on the basis of his/her curriculum even if the final mark is bellow 14. The doutor degree is only awarded by a university institution after the elaboration and defence of an original thesis (doctoral thesis). This degree is only open to the holders of the mestre degree or equivalent and to those who have been LCCG-UBI

awarded the licenciado degree or a legally equivalent qualification with a final mark of 16. Holders of a relevante academic, scientific and professional curriculum may also apply to the doutor degree after analysis of the curriculum by the competent academic body.

Assessment system / Grading system The result achieved in a subject, whether through continuous assessment or in an examination, is generally expressed along scale from 0 to 20 marks. The lowest passing grade is 10. The final grading of a course is shown on the relevant diploma or degree certificate along a scale of 0 to 20 Marks (except on the certificate for the degree of mestre and doutor where the final grade is normally expressed in a qualitative way i.e. Bom(Good), Bom com distino (Good with distinction) and Muito Bom (Very Good). A result, instead of a number, may be entered on diplomas or degree certificates, with the following equivalences: 10 14 16 18 20 to 13 marks to 15 marks to 17 marks to 19 marks marks Adequate Good Good with distinction Very Good with distinction Magna cum laude
