blema de saber porque 6 que tal ideia 6 dada h consciencia e como 6 que tal experiencia
se pode pensar. A tarefa de constitui^ao do real a partir da subjectividade nSo passa,
como pertinentemente refere Merleau-Ponty, de uma reafirma^ao simetrica das teses
fundamentals da ontologia objectivista. A rela^ao entre o eu que 6 uno e as suas ideias
que sao multiplas nao resultara tao diffcil de pensar como a rela$ao entre o eu espiritual
e o mundo material? Como explicar que o meu pensamento, mesmo na hip6tese de
considerarmos que as coisas existem somente a tftulo de representa^oes ou modalidades
do meu pensamento, se fragmente em diversas modalidades, e mais precisamente nestas
modalidades? O idealismo ensina que a consciencia 6 inengendravel; mas esta inengen-
drabilidade, alias aceite por Merleau-Ponty, nunca poderd afirmar-se como subjecti-
vidade pura, mera transparencia para si. O fildsofo critica assim uma interpretacao eter-
nitaria do Cogito: a impossibilidade deste poder abarcar e antecipar os desenvolvimentos
temporais, numa unica intencao. A doutrina do Cogito, quando radica na consciencia
perceptiva, deve referi-lo a uma subjectividade simultaneamente indeclindvel e dependents
