O ponto de origem da cultura surge onde se convergem o encontro dos dois sexos ,
o sexo é o canal mais próprio de se criar a sociabilidade e , com ela , a cultura . Pois
, onde há divergência de sexos , há sempre distinção de valores e atividades que
constroem uma cultura.

hoje, segundo Bauman.
Do amor, em Freud, entendemos que é fácil volver nossos olhos para nós mesmos
encontrando, dentro de nós, a coisa amada pela qual dizemos que amamos a nós
mesmos. Amamos a nós mesmos pela inclinação de reconhecer em nós o valor que
possuímos e que, pela convivência com o outro que nos revela o que há em nosso
ser, reconhecemos que possuímos valores singulares que dão ensejo ao “amor-
próprio”. No entanto, além do horizonte da fixação em nós mesmos, há outros
seres dotados das mesmas paixões que compartilhamos por também pertencerem à
espécie humana. E, a dificuldade é amiga de amar no outro, os bens que
reconhecemos dentro de nós, ou, na verdade, em amar o outro pelos bens
singulares que coexistem com ele. Isso implica dizer, que também temos que fazer
resistência a uma característica malévola do “amor-próprio”: o reconhecimento e
a valorização das diferenças do outro, abstraindo um pouco a atenção que nos
circunda. Esse é o ato mesmo fundador da humanidade, pois não admitindo o
valor do outro e o respeito à individualidade do ser de cada um, entramos em um
estado de aversão uns com os outros que não tardará a se tornar um estado de
“todos contra todos”. É o que Freud assinala implícita e explicitamente na frase
“amar o próximo como a si mesmo”.
