RESUMO
ABSTRACT
Cutting ants are considered the main forest pests in Brazil, resulting in great damage
to the forest sector. In order to search for a new technology in ant control, an
experiment was carried out in a reforestation of Pinus taeda, 2.5 years old, average
height of 3.2 meters and plant spacing of 2.5 x 2.5 meters in the municipality of Ponte
Serrada (SC). The objective of the study was to analyze the efficacy of the ecological
formicide bait in the control of leaf cutting ants of the genus Acromyrmex spp. The
evaluation period was 36 days. Twenty-seven random anthyles were selected and
separated in blocks of three similar antlers, after which the treatments were distributed
in each of the blocks and the evaluations as foraging, bait loading, ant movement and
fungus size were performed. Three treatments were tested, 150 g of ecological bait,
50 g of Blitz and control. It can be observed that the ecological bait was very attractive
and in most evaluations the loading of this treatment was intense in relation to the Blitz
bait. The treatment with the Blitz bait showed higher mortality of the colonies and the
volume of rainfall could have interfered in the results.
