vitórias e espólios de dois dias de batalhas árduas contra tudo que não é bom. Cada
presente definitivamente sairá destes portões com novas histórias para contar mas,
principalmente – e disso temos certeza –, com uma renovada perspectiva sobre a vida.

You, the People of Tomorrow, have made it! Today, you’re about to finish the marathon
known as Tomorrowland Brasil 2016. You carry upon your shoulders the victories and
spoils of two days of arduous battles against everything that’s not magical or mad. Every
person here will certainly walk out of these gates with new stories to tell but, and of this
we are most sure, with a renewed perspective on life. Here, in this magical land, you
planted and reaped values that should be replicated outside, along with thousands and
thousands of friends. Values such as peace, companionship, optimism and truth, which are
all indispensable for people to believe in a better, more united and happier world. Today is
the last day of the festival, but each day is the first day of the rest of your lives. That’s why
we have some advice for you: make today count and make it last forever inside you. Don’t
try to save your energy; do exactly what your heart desires! After all, the magic never ends

foundation stone of friendship and camaraderie. Truly, the name DreamVille
was not chosen in vain. Look at the topography and all the colors of this

region provided so much fun and connected fascinating people that enjoyed

psychedelic Easy Tents. “We’re taking the tent as souvenir from this experience, as
this was such an important moment for us,” say the lovebirds.

A carioca Viviane nos mostrou todo o conforto das cabanas DreamLodge,

espaçosas e perfeitas para se arrumar sem tumulto. “Ano passado fiquei em

hotel e passei perrengue. Agora achei que valeu cada centavo”.

Rio de Janeiro native Viviane shows us all the comfort of the DreamLodge
cabanas: spacious and perfect to dress up unencumbered. “Last year I stayed at
a hotel and it was a nuisance. Now, I think it was worth every cent.”

O casal Tom e Ângela e a cunhada Bianca esse ano quiseram conforto, e

aproveitaram o charme e estrutura do DreamLodge. “Gostamos porque não é
tão quente quanto as barracas, é mais arejado”, diz o rapaz.

Ano passado o boliviano Naldo ficou nas Easy Tents, mas em 2016 ele preferiu os
Magnificent Greens pois “é muito mais divertido, cheio de gente”. Não à toa, ele
confeccionou um cartaz “born to rave”.

DO TOMORROWLAND
Registrar os mágicos momentos do público e dos DJs é a nobre
missão da Tomorrowland TV, e todo mundo quer estar nessa
telinha! Acompanhe o cinegrafista belga Tommy Vulysteke em
ação, um craque em registrar o sorriso e a animação da galera.
A Tomorrowland TV transmite ao vivo e a posteriori cenas e sets
do festival, além de entrevistas de estúdio. São 7 horas de música
durante os 3 dias de festa, em um audiência global de quase 20
milhões de pessoas, que vivenciam o Tomorrowland num HD
glorioso. Tommy trabalhou no crew de Dimitri Vegas & Like
Mike, e agora está super feliz em capturar as cenas mais insanas da
galera. “Amo estar em campo, não no backstage! Por muito tempo
vi sorrisos pelo vídeo, agora vejo de perto e posso dizer: é real!
Não tem nada fake”, diz o cameraman, que ao sair para gravar
transforma-se no centro das atenções. “Eu não levo nem um minuto
para encontrar algo legal. Começo filmando só uma pessoa, e acabo
tendo outras 30 em cima”. Momentos especiais são as queimas de
fogos e o pôr do sol, e um mérito de todo cameraman é ter uma
cena sua incluída no aftermovie do festival. O cinegrafista sai para
gravar acompanhado de Patrícia, sua tradutora e certas vezes até
mesmo guarda-costas, já que a turma perde a noção na hora que
vê a câmera – ei, cuidado com nossos cinegrafistas, pessoal! E não
deixem de conferir a Tomorrowland TV no site oficial.

THE EYES
OF TOMORROWLAND
Registering the magical moments of the audience and DJs is the
noble mission of Tomorrowland TV, and everyone wants to be
on this big screen! Follow the Belgian cinematographer Tommy
Vulysteke in action, a genius at recording the smiles
and excitement of the crowd.
Tomorrowland TV provides a live broadcast and after-scenes of the
festival’s sets, as well as studio interviews. There are 7 hours of pure
music during the event’s 3 days and a global audience of almost
20 million people who experience Tomorrowland in amazing HD.
Tommy worked for the Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike crew before and
is now incredibly happy to capture the craziest scenes in the crowd.
“I love being in the field instead of backstage! I saw smiles through
videos for a long time, but now that I can see it all from up close, I can
say: it’s real! There’s nothing fake about it,” states the cameraman,
who is the center of attention whenever he goes out to shoot a video.
“I start off by filming just one person and I end up having 30 other
people on top.” All cinematographers value special moments such as
fireworks, sunsets and, above all, having one of their scenes featured
in the festival’s aftermovie. The cameraman is joined in the field by
Patricia, his translator and temporary bodyguard. She has to be,
since everybody seems to lose their sense of boundaries when they
see the camera – hey, careful with our camera crew, guys! And don’t

Álvares Cabral chegou ao Brasil após uma longa viagem que teve como ponto de
partida Portugal. Por este motivo, esta é considerada a data oficial do descobrimento.
Desde então o fluxo de pessoas de todo o mundo em direção ao gigante sul-americano
não parou mais. O que será que os People Of Tomorrow estão descobrindo na “terra
brasilis” 516 anos depois dos portugueses?
As palavras “cerveja”, “água” e “dois”. Assim
conseguimos pedir tudo o que precisamos. Ah,
também aprendemos um pouco de mímica já que
poucas pessoas falam inglês!

Nicky Romero esteve no noticiário recente por sua pausa no
trabalho de produtor, mas agora ele está de volta e preparado
para o Tomorrowland. Conversamos com ele um pouco antes de
apresentar seu próprio palco na Fazenda Maeda – e o seguimos
em sua jornada para o festival. Prepare-se para um rolê muito
louco!
“Estou super animado para o palco Procotol este ano”, diz um animado
Nicky ao ser questionado sobre sua marca. “Gosto de me envolver o
máximo possível com tudo da Protocol, mas também sou sortudo de
ter uma equipe incrível ao meu redor trabalhando comigo. Tomamos
decisões juntos sobre o line-up. Naturalmente, temos grandes artistas
como Arno Cost, Wildstylez e Volt & State para tocar, então as coisas
ficam mais fáceis”.
“Tenho muito orgulho de notar como a família Protocol cresceu nos
últimos anos. Temos cerca de 15 pessoas no escritório e no estúdio
agora. Não posso dizer quem é a pessoa mais importante; todos são
essenciais à harmonia da companhia e não conseguiríamos tocar as
coisas sem estarmos juntos”, diz Romero sobre seus brothers. E ele
realmente os vê como iguais: “Se me sinto responsável por eles? Acho
que é mais sobre eles serem responsáveis por mim (risos). Mas sério,
todos cuidamos um dos outros, é mais como uma família do que um
escritório”.
Questionado sobre o futuro da EDM e sobre seus sons em particular,
o artista segue ambivalente. “A música eletrônica já mudou muito
nos últimos anos, e vimos muitos gêneros e subgêneros surgirem. O
pop segue se apropriando da dance music, e músicos aparecem em
apresentações da eletrônica. É de se pensar aonde isso irá nos levar.
Para mim, sempre focarei nas melodias, tentando criar música que faz
as pessoas sentirem algo. Acabo de lançar meu single com Nile Rodgers
(“Future Funk”) e foi super divertido trabalhar com essa lenda viva,
para criar algo fora da minha zona de conforto – mas isso não é uma

Recently having been in the news regarding a hiatus in his
work as a producer, Nicky Romero is now back on track
and more than ready for Tomorrowland. Before the madness
began, we got together with him to discuss his very own
stage at Maeda Park – only to follow him on his journey to
the festival after. A wild ride!
“I’m super excited for our Protocol stage this year,” Nicky excitedly
says when prompted about his stage. “I like to be as involved as possible
with everything Protocol, but I’m also lucky enough to have an amazing
team around me whom I work with. We make decisions regarding the
line-up together. Naturally, we have the Protocol management artists
Arno Cost, Wildstylez and Volt & State playing, so that’s always an
easy choice.”
“You know, I’m pleased to say that the Protocol team has really grown
over the last few years. We actually have around 15 people in the
office and the studios now. I don’t think I could possibly say who is
the most important; everyone is integral to the smooth running of the
company and we couldn’t do without anyone,” Romero goes on about
his colleagues. And he really sees them as equals: “Do I feel responsible
for them? I think it’s more that they are responsible for me [laughs]. But
seriously, we all look out for each other, it truly is more like a family
than a workforce!”
When asked about the future of EDM in general, as well as his own
particular sounds, the artist remains ambivalent. “Electronic music has
already changed so much over the last few years, and we’ve seen so
many new genres and sub-genres appear. Pop music is actually taking
its cues from dance, and live musicians feature in electronic music. It’s
anyone’s guess where all this will take us. For me, I will always be about
melodies, trying to create music that makes you feel something. I just
released my new single with Nile Rodgers (“Future Funk”) and it was so

turnês. “Não é segredo que já fui franco sobre minhas dificuldades
no passado. Acho que é importante as pessoas se pronunciarem para
tornarem esses problemas mais socialmente aceitos, e também para conseguirem
todo o apoio necessário. Acho que Tim tomou uma decisão corajosa. Ele tem
sido uma grande inspiração para mim e tantos outros, é uma grande perda
para o mundo, mas eu respeito muito sua escolha e desejo o melhor a ele”. Por
sorte, Nicky conseguiu seguir firme à frente da família Protocol, tanto nos bons
quanto nos maus momentos. E sempre há espaço para novos membros nessa
família. “Como entrar na Protocol? Acho que tudo começa com criar tracks
incríveis que combinem com o nosso som. E nunca desista. Se é bom, tenho
certeza que nosso departamento artístico irá te escolher!”.
Não há dúvidas, Nicky Romero não é apenas um produtor versátil, mas um
homem que cuida de seu pessoal – tanto quanto seu selo, seu palco, ou os
impressionantes públicos que aparecem para vê-lo performar. Se você perdeu
seu set no palco Protocol ontem, não se preocupe, já que o Mainstage recebe
hoje, às 21h00, sua segunda apresentação, que deve ser mais que espetacular!

much fun to collaborate with a true legend, to create something a little outside
of my comfort zone – but this isn’t a new general direction.” When pushed
about the new, less jumpable and more danceable trends in EDM, he adds:
“At the end of the day, when you’re at a festival or a club all you want do is
to go out and dance. So it can only be a good thing, surely?”
Going from good things to bad things, Avicii, with whom Nicky has
collaborated a smash hit (“I Could Be the One”), recently announced
his retirement due to excessive touring stress. “It’s no secret that I’ve been
very honest about my own struggles in the past. I think it’s important
that people speak out to make these problems more socially acceptable,
and also in order to get all the support they need. I think Tim has made a very
brave decision. He’s been such a huge inspiration to me and many others, and
it’s a great loss to our world, but I completely respect his choice and I wish him all
the best.” Luckily, Nicky himself managed to remain head of the Protocol family,
through the bad times and the good. And there is always room for new members
in that family. “How to get into Protocol? I guess that really starts with making
amazing tracks that fit the Protocol sound. And never give up. If it’s that good,
I’m sure our A&R team and I will pick it up!”

De onde surgiu o nome Elekfantz?
Daniel Kuhnen: “Esse era o nome de uma banda fictícia que eu tinha com
amigos de infância. Fazíamos overdubs em cima de músicas instrumentais de
bandas que gostávamos como Pink Floyd e desenhávamos as capas das fitas
cassete, sempre desenhos com elefantes.”
Leo Piovezani: “Quando terminamos nossa primeira música o Gui [Boratto]
mandou para o Michael Mayer da Kompakt e ele adorou. Queria lançar ela
imediatamente, mas ainda não tínhamos nem um nome! O Dani contou essa
história e todos curtiram, foi tudo muito rápido.”
Esta será a segunda vez de vocês no Tomorrowlad Brasil. Quais as lembranças
de 2015 e a expectativa para 2016?
LP: “Nossa primeira vez foi incrível, tocamos cedo mas fomos surpreendidos
com uma quantidade grande de fãs que foram lá para nos prestigiar, muitos nem
sabiam que éramos brasileiros.”
DK: “Fiquei muito feliz e surpreso com a estrutura e produção do evento ano
passado, nunca tinha visto nada parecido no Brasil. E nesse ano vamos tocar em
um palco ainda maior, com mais espaço pro nosso novo setup e pra executar os
passos de dança que ensaiei especialmente pro festival. Estamos ansiosos!”
Vocês têm um álbum novo saindo forno, é isso? O que podemos esperar dele?
LP: “Sim, recém começamos a produção do novo disco do Elekfantz junto com
o nosso label boss Gui Boratto. Componho o tempo todo, então já temos umas
trinta músicas para escolher e lapidar com ele.”
DK: “Estamos gravando mais instrumentos, acústicos e eletrônicos, tudo
do zero. Nada de loops e samples. O segundo disco é muito importante pra
qualquer artista, estamos bem felizes com o que gravamos até aqui e como ele
está evoluindo.”
Entre o pop e underground: seria correto dizer que o som do Elekfantz está
exatamente neste local?
LP: “Sim, eu não penso em rótulos enquanto componho mas gostei dessa
definição de vocês para o nosso som.”
DK: “Não sei se gosto de ficar em cima do muro! (risos) Não foi nada planejado,
mas por algum motivo nossa música realmente funciona nesses dois mundos.
Do Watergate à rádio, do Warung à novela das oito. Uma coisa é certa: vamos
continuar fazendo música sem pensar em rótulos e com o coração.”

A UNIQUE COMBINATION OF TWO MUSICIANS WITH VERY DIFFERENT
LIFE STORIES COULD ONLY RESULT IN AN ORIGINAL PROJECT.
ELEKFANTZ CONSISTS OF DJ AND MUSICIAN DANIEL KUHNEN, WITH
OVER 15 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE BEHIND THE TURNTABLES, AND VO-
CALIST AND MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST LEO PIOVEZANI. TOGETHER,
THEY REPRESENT A NOTEWORTHY NAME IN THE BRAZILIAN MUSIC
SCENE TODAY.
How did you come up with the name “Elekfantz”?
Daniel Kuhnen: “It was the name of a fictional band that I had with my childhood
friends. We created overdubs on top of instrumental tracks of bands that we enjoyed,
like Pink Floyd, and we always drew elephants on the cover of the cassette tapes.”
Leo Piovezani: “When we finished our first song, Gui [Boratto] sent it to Michael
Mayer from Kompakt and he loved it. He wanted to release it right away, but we
didn’t even have a name! Dani told us this story and everyone liked it, so everything
happened very fast.”
This will be your second time at Tomorrowland Brasil. What are your
memories from 2015 and your expectations for 2016?
LP: “Our first time was incredible. We played early, but we were surprised by the large
amount of fans that came to watch our performance. A lot of them didn’t even know
we were Brazilian.”
DK: “I was really happy and surprised by the structure and production of the event
last year – I had never seen anything like it in Brazil. And this year, we’re playing at
an even bigger stage, with extra space for our new setup and to execute the dance steps
that I rehearsed solely for the festival. We’re excited!”
You’re about to release a new album, is that right? What can we expect?
LP: “Yes, we recently began the production of Elekfantz’s new record, together with
our label boss, Gui Boratto. I compose all the time, so we already have about thirty
tracks to choose from and work on with him.”
DK: “We’re recording more instruments, acoustic and electronic, everything from
scratch. No loops or samples. The second record is very important for any artist. We’re
extremely happy with what we’ve recorded up to now and how it’s evolving.”
The middle ground between pop and underground: would it be accurate
to say that Elekfantz’s sound falls under this category?
LP: “Yes, I don’t really think about labels when I’m composing, but I like your
definition of our sound.”
DK: “I don’t know if I like the idea of falling in between genres, haha. We didn’t plan
for any of this, but for some reason, our music really works in both these universes.
From Watergate to the radio, from Warung to the eight o’clock soap opera. But one
thing’s for sure: we’ll continue making music, without thinking about labels, and from
our hearts.”

With a career at its prime and a plethora of hit songs, Steve had the
opportunity to embark on a new journey. Alongside his childhood friend,

dance floor – and Axwell, the Swedish House Mafia was born. The trio
was an instant success around the globe with hits like “Don’t You Worry
Child” and “Save the World” in 2011 and 2012. In 2013, SHM came
to an end, but Steve Angello continued to be one of the most anticipated
and coveted DJs of the international stages, concentrating even more of his
energy on his renowned label, Size Records.
2016 has been a year of major productions and innovations for Steve
Angello, who took on the role of Resident at the British radio station BBC
1, alongside Oliver Heldens. Also this year, he released the much-admired
album “Wild Youth,” where he explores new sounds and possibilities in
his creative process, in addition to making references to his childhood. The

11 anos, assim, o carioca teve tempo o bastante para

When a Brazilian artist starts featuring alongside major
international names, sharing booths with DJs such as

it doesn’t take much to realize that we’re talking about an
incredible talent. Marcelo CIC began his relationship with
music at the early age of 11. Thus, the Rio de Janeiro
native has had plenty of time to mature his sound and

music. This resulted in the birth of a versatile artist, fully
capable of dominating the stage as well as the dance floor.
Miriam Flow e Zeo Guinle lançaram sua primeira faixa

Love Parade (Alemanha) e pelo segundo ano consecutivo,
do Tomorrowland Brasil. Além disso, comandam o selo

Anna começou o ano de 2016 com o pé direito: em
janeiro ela foi escolhida a melhor DJ do Brasil no VI
Prêmio Rio Music Conference. O reconhecimento
é mais do que justo: a DJ e produtora paulistana vem

Anna started the year of 2016 on the right footing: in
January she was voted Best DJ in Brazil at the VI Rio
Music Conference Awards. The acknowledgement is more
than fair: for the past few years, the São Paulo DJ and
producer has worked hard for her position as one of the
great protagonists of the national electronic music scene.
Tracks that oscillate between distinct tech-house and
techno make up the artist’s repertoire, and she’s scheduled
to perform at the Diynamic area this Saturday!

Miriam Flow and Zeo Guinle released their first track
in 2003 and ever since then, they’ve rocked dance floors
around the world. They’ve checked off Warung Beach Club,
Rock in Rio, Love Parade (Germany) and for the second
year in a row, Tomorrowland Brasil. In addition, they run
the Tropical Beats label, which releases significant Brazilian
artists, such as Gabe, Wehbba and TouchTalk. The duo’s
power is represented through well-constructed tracks and
sets, properly celebrated by the audience. Plenty of groove
and bass lines are trademarks in their performances. Get
ready to dance until you drop when this duo takes the DJ
booth at 2 p.m.!

entre outras. Já lançou por selos importantes como Plastic City, Circle, Kompakt e Audiomatique.
Hoje, comanda o selo D.O.C. Records que lança conceituados produtores brasileiros como
Elekfantz, Junior C, Shadow Movement e L_cio, que se apresentam ao lado do bossman, hoje!

There are a few heroes in the electronic music industry in Brazil. Together, they carry the
country’s flag to new frontiers and disseminate the music produced around here. Multifaceted DJ,
Gui Boratto, is one of those people. Having played for over 20 years, the musician, producer,
entrepreneur and architect embraced his musical career at a young age. During the first few
years, he worked with major labels, such as EMI, Virgin and BMG, among others. He also
released tracks through significant ‘indie’ labels, such as Plastic City, Circle, Kompakt and
Audiomatique. Today, Gui runs the label D.O.C. Records, which releases renowned Brazilian
producers, such as Elekfantz, Junior C, Shadow Movement and L_cio, who will perform next

O paulista Wagner Ribeiro de Souza, mais conhecido como DJ Patife, teve uma enorme importância
no desenvolvimento da música eletrônica no Brasil. Juntamente com Marky, foi um dos primeiros
DJs a criar um som “brasileiro” nas pistas de dance music misturando o Drum & Bass londrino
com características de ritmos brasileiros. Assim, com seu Brazilian Drum & Bass, viajou o mundo
levando a batida e o carisma brasileiro a novas fronteiras. Como produtor já remixou grandes nomes
nacionais como: Fernanda Porto, Daniela Mercury, Funk Como Le Gusta, Tribalistas, Funk Como
Le Gusta e Max Viana. Imperdível!

São Paulo native, Wagner Ribeiro de Souza, better known as DJ Patife, was extremely important
for the development of electronic music in Brazil. Together with Marky, he was one of the first
DJs to create a “Brazilian” sound in the dance music clubs, blending London drum’n’bass with
specific Brazilian rhythms. To this effect, his Brazilian drum’n bass genre traveled the world,
bringing the Brazilian beat and charisma to new frontiers. As a producer, he has remixed for major
national artists, such as Fernanda Porto, Daniela Mercury, Funk Como Le Gusta, Tribalistas,
and Max Viana. A must-see performance!

A cena underground belga vem nos apresentado excelentes artistas e sonoridades que conquistaram
o público brasileiro nos últimos anos. Olivier Gregoire, que você deve conhecer como Kolombo, é
um deles. Pense em um som poderoso, cheio de groove e fruto de uma saudável mistura entre Hip-
Hop e House e você saberá o que irá enfrentar. Dono de uma coleção de lançamentos por alguns
dos melhores selos do gênero, e comandante do celebrado LouLou Records, Kolombo vêm sendo
uma verdadeira sensação em terras verde e amarelas e por aqui não será diferente.
