Lana Turner desmaiou!
eu andava por a e ento
comeou a chover e nevar
e voc disse que era granizo
mas granizo bate to forte
chuva e eu estava to doido
pra te encontrar mas o trfego
agia exatamente como o cu
e a eu vi uma manchete
LANA TURNER DESMAIOU!
no h neve alguma em Hollywood
no chove na Califrnia
tenho ido a muitas festas
e agido como um perfeito imbecil
mas fato nunca desmaiei
ah Lana Turner ns te adoramos levanta
MY HEART
I'm not going to cry all the time
nor shall I laugh all the time,
I don't prefer one "strain" to another.
I'd have the immediacy of a bad movie,
not just a sleeper, but also the big,
overproduced first-run kind. I want to be
at least as alive as the vulgar. And if
some aficionado of my mess says "That's
not like Frank!", all to the good! I
don't wear brown and grey suits all the time,
do I? No. I wear workshirts to the opera,
often. I want my feet to be bare,
I want my face to be shaven, and my heart-you can't plan on the heart, but
MEU CORAO
superproduzido, competitivo. Eu queria ser
ao menos to vvido quanto o vulgar. E se
algum aficionado do meu troo disser "Aquilo
no parece Frank!", tanto melhor! Eu
no uso ternos marrons e cinzas o tempo todo,
uso? No. Uso camisas de expediente na pera,
com freqncia. Eu quero meu p descalo,
a melhor parte dele, minha poesia, aberta.
CALL ME
The eager note on my door said "Call me,"
call when you get in!" so I quickly threw
a few tangerines into my overnight bag,
straightened my eyelids and shoulders, and
headed straight for the door. It was autumn
by the time I got around the corner, oh all
unwilling to be either pertinent or bemused, but
the leaves were brighter than grass on the sidewalk!
Funny, I thought,
and the hall door
champion jai-alai
for shame! What a
ME LIGA
A ansiosa nota na minha porta dizia "Me liga,
liga assim que chegar", ento joguei depressa
umas tangerinas na minha insone mochila,
franzi as plpebras, os ombros, e
dirigi-me direto porta.
gozado, pensei, que as luzes estejam acesas to tarde
fluia escada abaixo. Eu bem que apreciei. H poucos
SONG OF LOTTA
You're not really sick
if you're not sick with love
there is no medicine
the busy grass can grow
again but love's a witch
that poisons the earth
you're not really sick
if you think of love as
a summer's vacation
I'm going to die unless
my love soon chases
the clouds away
and the azure smiles
and browns my strong
belief that love is.
LES LUTHS
Ah nuts! it's boring reading French newspapers
in New York as if I were a Colonial waiting for my gin
somewhere beyond this roof a jet is making a sketch of the sky
where is Gary Snyder I wonder if he's reading under a dwarf pine
stretched out so his book and his head fit under the lowest branch
while the sun of the Orient rolls calmly not getting through to him
not caring particularly because the light in Japan respects poets
while in Paris Monsieur Martroy and his brother Jean the poet
are reading a piece by Matthieu Galey and preparing to send a pneu
everybody here is running around after dull pleasantries and
wondering if The Hotel Wently Poems is as great as I say it is
and I am feeling particularly testy at being separated from
the one I love by most dreary of practical exigencies money
when I want only to lean on my elbow and stare into space feeling
the one warm beautiful thing in the world breathing upon my right rib
what are lutes they make ugly twangs and rest on knees in cafs
I want to her only your light voice running on about Florida
as we pass the changing traffic light and buy grapes for wherever
we will end up praising the mattressless sleigh-bed and the
Mexican egg and the clock that will not make me know
how to leave you
LES LUTHS
Ora bolas! maante ler jornais franceses
especulam se Os Poemas do Hotel Wently to bom quanto eu digo que
e me sinto particularmente prova por estar distante
quando s quero equilibrar-me no cotovelo e fixar o vazio a sentir

MADRID
Spain! Much more beautiful than Egypt!
better than France and Livorno! Or Thophile Gautier!
nothing but rummies in Nice
and junkies in Tunis
but everything convulses under the silver tent of Spain
the dark
the dry
the shark-bite-sand-colored mouth
of Europe, the raped and swarthy goddess of speed! O Spain
to be in your arms again
and the dung-bight olives
bluely smiling at the quivering angulas
smudged
against the wall of mind
where the silver turns
against the railroad tracks
and breathe goes down
and down and down
into the cool moonlight
where the hotel rooms is on wheels
and there all buttocks are black and blue
dun
is the color of the streets and the sacks of beer
where dopes lead horses with a knight each
do you care if the rotunda is sparrowy
caught behind the arras of distaste and sorrow
did you
wait, wait very long
or was it simply dark and you standing t
here
I saw the end of a very long tale
Being delivered in the Rastro on Sunday morning
And you were crying, and I was crying right away too
The Retiro confided in us
all those betrayals
we never meant but has to do, the leaves
the foolish boats like High School
before the Alhamabra
before the echo of your voice
I have done other things but never against you
now I am going home
MADRI
Espanha!
a escura
a seca
a boca cor-de-areia-mordida-de-cao
da Europa, a violentada e morena deusa da velocidade! ah Espanha
estar de novo em teus braos
e as estrume-claro oliveiras
azulando sorrisos diante das trmulas enguias
mancha
sobre o muro da mente
onde a prata recai
sobre os caminhos de ferro
e o flego desce
e desce e desce
e as bundas a so todas pretas e azuis
parda
e voc chorava, e eu chorava junto
o Retiro confiava-nos
todas aquelas traies
