A etimologia profunda de “colecionar” (  ) encontra-se no proto-

indoeuropeu, universo semântico quadrimilenar em que se formou a raiz
. Nesta formação, assinala-se o vínculo originário entre “coletar” e
“falar”, assim como os traços genéticos e efeitos civilizatórios do colecionar.
Após examinar as circunstâncias históricas que instauram o colecionismo,
em sua natureza civilizacional, este ensaio apresenta pequena coleção de
imagens de comportamentos colecionistas, ensejando a percepção das
diferentes psicologias e epistemologias relacionadas ao colecionismo.
