A REALEZA EGIPCIA NO IMPERIO ANTIGO:
PERSPECTIVAS SOBRE A INTERACÇÃO
DO SOBERANO COM OS SEUS DIGNITÁRIOS
(V DINASTIA) - 1.a PARTE
terem aparecido apenas no Império Mério), nomeadamente as «autobiogra-
exemplos clarificantes.
Abstract
Through this article the author seeks to make an approach that leads to
a better understanding of several aspects concerning the way (or ways) how
the king during the Old Kingdom presented himself to the elite of his subjects
33
PEDRO DE ABREU MALHEIRO
and also how the latter registered and celebrated the corresponding re-
sponse/reaction towards the monarch. With this purpose in mind, different
kinds of documents were used in this essay in order to confirm the idea that
both the king and the elite members of Egypt created a species of discourse
in a setting where ritual and daily experience mixed together in a remarkable
way. Among those sources, a great value was given to inscriptions from pri-
vate funerary monuments and, in a lesser degree, from royal temples. The
results of the survey will shed some light over topo/ such as ideology, per-
formance and the forebears of the Egyptian belles-letters (usually considered
to appear only in the Middle Kingdom), notably the «autobiographies» be-
longing to high officials of Dynasty V, of which some clarifying examples are
presented.

A REALEZA EGIPCIA NO IMPERIO ANTIGO
do portador do selo. Cf. P. KAPLONY, Die Inschriften der ägyptischen Frühzeit, vol. Ill,
Wiesbaden: Otto Harrassowitz, 1963, est. 95, fig. 368; vol. Il, p. 1143.

Egyptians: Cognitive Structures and Popular Expressions, Estocolmo: Almkvist & Wiksell,
