O ensino de geografia abrange temáticas diversas, dentre elas está a

cartografia, na qual é ferramenta fundamental na representação do espaço
geográfico. A forma que a cartografia é trabalhada no ensino formal nas
escolas brasileiras varia conforme o curso e série em que estão inseridos os
discentes, onde encontra-se nos PCN’s uma melhor sugestão de como deveria
ser trabalhado essa temática em cada série. Este trabalho busca compreender
a importância dessa temática no ensino de geografia, dando ênfase nas séries
iniciais do ensino fundamental, onde se inicia a alfabetização cartográfica. Os
resultados dessa discursão foram obtidos por meio de aplicação de
questionário e atividades práticas na Escola Municipal de Ensino Fundamental
Bosque Bolonha, onde busca-se compreender as relações espaciais
estabelecidas por esse alunado, assim como a forma que de representar o
espaço de seu cotidiano, ou seja, o lugar.

The teaching of geography covers diverse themes, among them is the

cartography, in which it is a fundamental tool in the representation of
geographical space. The way that cartography is worked in formal education in
Brazilian schools varies according to the course and series in which the
students are inserted, where a better suggestion of how the topic should be
worked on in each series is found in the NCPs. This work seeks to understand
the importance of this theme in the teaching of geography, emphasizing the
initial series of elementary education, where cartographic literacy begins. The
results of this discourse were obtained through the application of a
questionnaire and practical activities at the Municipal School of Basic Education
Bosque Bologna, where it is sought to understand the spatial relations
established by this student, as well as the form that represents the space of
their daily life, that is, the place.
