EQUIVALÊNCIA ENERGÉTICA DE PELLETS COM OUTROS
COMBUSTÍVEIS
Abstract: The valorization of renewable energy resources is one of the main objectives
of the global energy policy, which seeks to minimize the dependence on fossil fuels
and reduce the emission of greenhouse gases. Thus, the present work aimed to
compare the energy generated by pellets of different raw materials with other
renewable fuels, as well as fossil fuels. In relation to pellets, the raw materials were:
eucalyptus wood, pine wood, eucalyptus bark, eucalyptus tip, cotton waste, sugar cane
bagasse, elephant grass and rice straw. For energy equivalence, the following fuels
were used: diesel, fuel oil, gasoline, liquefied petroleum gas, natural gas, chips, ethanol
and biodiesel. The main advantage of Pinus pellets in relation to other biomasses is the
high calorific value, despite the lower bulk density. In contrast, rice straw pellets
replace smaller amounts of fossil fuels or biofuels because of their low calorific value.
Thus, it is concluded that the Pinus pellets have the highest energy equivalence in
relation to other fuels and the rice straw pellets, the lower equivalence.
