QUANDO UTILIZAMOS O PRESENT SIMPLE?

Para descrever…

Fatos ou explicações que são sempre Hábitos ou ações que se repetem com
verdadeiras certa frequência.

Exemplo: Exemplo:

COMO FORMAMOS O PRESENT SIMPLE?

Afirmativo

O present simple possui a mesma estrutura do infinitivo (sem to) dos

verbos em inglês. Por exemplo:

O verbo comer, seria em inglês “to eat”.

Uma frase com o verbo conjugado no present simple seria:

I eat chocolate everyday. (Eu como chocolate todos os dias.)

Esta forma funciona para os seguintes pronomes:

I (Eu) eat chocolate everyday.

You (Você) eat chocolate everyday.
We (Nos) eat chocolate everyday.
They (Eles) eat chocolate everyday.

Mas com a terceira pessoa do singular (she/he/it), acrescentamos um -s:

She eats chocolate everyday. (Ela come chocolate todos os dias.)

Negativo

No inglês, utilizamos um verbo auxiliar para formar frases negativas. Por

exemplo:

I do not eat chocolate everyday. (Eu não como chocolate todos os dias.)

Além do verbo “eat”, adicionamos o verbo auxiliar “do” na forma negativa.

Do not pode ser utilizado com os pronomes I, You, We e They.

Para os pronomes He, She e It, utilizamos a forma does not. Por exemplo:

She does not eat chocolate everyday. (Ela não come chocolate todos os
dias.)

Note que o verb não tem o -s, ou seja, seria incorreto a frase “She
does not eats chocolate everyday.” Quando a frase está na forma
negativa, o verbo depois de does not não recebe o -s.
AK: 1. don’t do, 2. don’t have, 3. doesn’t go, 4. don’t talk, 5. doesn’t like

She does not eats chocolate everyday.

She doe not eat chocolate everyday.

Informação útil: Na escrita e fala, o do not pode ser reduzido para don’t,
enquanto o does not, pode ser reduzido para doesn’t.

Interrogativo

Observem as perguntas abaixo:

Do you play the guitar? (Você toca violão?)

Does he play tennis? (Ele joga tênis?)
Do they live in Sao Paulo? (Eles vivem em São Paulo?)

Assim como na forma negativa, utilizamos o verbo auxiliar do e does para

formar perguntas no inglês.

Utilizamos a forma do para os pronomes I, You, We e They, enquanto que

does será utilizado com os pronomes He, She e It.

Também podemos formar perguntas em inglês com Where, What, When,

dentre outros. Neste caso, formamos as perguntas da seguinte maneira:

Where do they live? (Onde eles moram?)

What does he do? (O que ele faz?)

Where, What, When, etc. ocupam a posição inicial na frase, seguidos pelo
verbo auxiliar, o sujeito da frase, e o verbo principal.
AK: 1. does... go / 2. do ... eat/ 3. does ... have/ 4. lives / 5. Does... like

Exceção: Há casos em que o verbo auxiliar (do ou does) não é

necessário. Estes casos, ocorrem normalmente com Who.

Who lives in London? (Quem mora em Londres?)

Who plays football at the weekend? (Quem joga futebol nos fins de
semana?)
