Têxteis
• O que são têxteis técnicos ou avançados?
Technical textiles are the functional textiles, which find applications across multiple
end-use industries such as automobile, construction, and others. These materials
exhibit enhanced performance as compared to conventional textiles. The technical
textile materials include several natural and synthetic fibers such as Saran, Vinalon,
Vinyon, Spandex, Modal, Twaron, Kevlar, Nomex, and others. Most of these fibers have
multiple applications, owing to their properties such as high strength, enhanced
mechanical resistance, superior insulation, elevated tenacity, and high thermal
resistance. In this process, fibers are treated with special materials to acquire physical
properties of a technical textile. These fibers possess enhanced strength as compared
to manmade fibers, and hence are widely used not only in the manufacturing of
apparels but also in various applications such as automotive, medical, and others.

The composite segment held a dominant position in 2017 and is anticipated to continue to
maintain the lead during the forecast period. Developments in the marine industry to facilitate
the demand for glass fibers and rise in demand for reinforced composites in the industrial &
construction sectors are projected to propel the demand for composites in the near future.
Increase in use of composites in the aerospace industry is further expected to boost the market
growth.
9
MobilTech held a dominant share in 2017, and is expected to maintain the lead during the
forecast period. This is majorly attributed to increase in product consumption in the
automotive sector. This sector is anticipated to exhibit remarkable growth in the future, due
to remarkable rise in demand for cars with high-end aspects. Intense competition in this
sector is further expected to propel the growth of this sector in the technical textile market.
10
The European technical textile market is projected to witness rapid growth from 2018 to 2025,
owing to the fact that these textiles are widely used in InduTech, MobilTech, OekoTech, and
other end-use applications of technical textiles in Europe. In addition, surge in adoption of
technical textile in the medical, industrial, home textiles, and automotive sectors significantly
fuel the growth of the European market. Moreover, emerging applications of these textiles11
across various segments such as clothing and construction boost the market growth.
Asia Pacific is estimated to grow at the highest from 2017 to 2022. The growth of the
technical textile market in emerging countries such as China and India can be
attributed to rapid urbanization and increased disposable incomes.
The technical textile market has undergone many changes and advancements
pertaining to technologies and materials used. Natural materials that are used in the
manufacturing of technical textile are relatively expensive than their synthetic
counterparts such as wool and silk. Growing demand from emerging industrial markets
provides an opportunity for the growth of technical textile.
The technical textile market is dominated by key players such as Asahi Kasei (Japan),
Kimberly Clarke (US), Berry Global Group (US), DuPont (US), Mitsui Chemicals (Japan),
and Freudenberg & Co. (Germany). Other players include Low & Bonar (UK), Huntsman
(US), Toyobo Co. (Japan), Milliken & Company (US), SRF Limited (India), Lanxess
(Germany), Koninklijke Ten Cate (Netherlands), and International Textile Group (US).
