Example: Let’s go, Andy. We will take this camera with us. -
Vamos, Andy. Nós levaremos esta câmera conosco.
•She said that she was tired. - Ela disse que estava cansada.
•I think that he won’t come to the party. – Eu acho que ele não vai
vir à festa.
• These data show that the results may be all mistaken.- Estes

• I understand that you don’t like it, but you have to do it. - Eu
entendo que você não gosta disto, mas vai ter de fazer.
When the “what” is so close to two verbs, we say that it has the
function of an integral conjunction, or as my unforgettable Portuguese
teacher “integral subordinate conjunction” would say. Anyway, letting
go of this Normative Grammar thing, just learn that when you have to
use this “what” in English the right word will be “that”.
For those who are proficient in grammar, just look for this as “that-
clause as direct object“. It is the name that English grammars give to
this use of the word "that". But for those who just want to learn how to
communicate in English, just know that the “that” in this case can
simply be left out in everyday language. Thus, it is much more common
to say and hear.
Quando o “what - que ” está assim junto de dois verbos dizemos que
ele exerce a função de conjunção integrante, ou como diria minha
inesquecível professora de português “conjunção subordinativa
integrante“. Enfim, deixando essa torutura de Gramática Normativa de
lado, aprenda apenas que quando tiver de usar este “what - que ” em
inglês a palavra certa será “that - que “.
•She said she was tired. (Cadê o “that”?) - Ela disse que estava cansada
•I think he won’t come to the party. (Onde está o “that”?) - Acho que
ele não virá para a festa.
•These data show the results may be all mistaken. (O “that” sumiu!) -
Esses dados mostram que os resultados podem estar todos errados
•I understand you don’t like it, but you have to do it. (“That”? Cadê
você?) - Eu entendo que você não goste, mas você tem que fazer.
However, this in English is super natural! After the
verb “think”, then, we don't even speak! Almost
nobody uses the “that”:
For example:
For example:
The Portuguese language accepts the use of the definite article (o, a, os, as) before "my",
"mine", "our", "our", "his", "their", etc. It is common to say ‘my name’, ‘her sister’, ‘his
books’, ‘their letters’, etc. In English, this is not possible. That is, we should not use the
article 'the' before the Possessive Adjectives and Possessive Pronouns in English. So we
don’t say ‘the my name’, ‘the her brother’, ‘the his books’, ‘the their letters’. Don't make that
mistake.
Esse é um erro muito comum entre estudantes brasileiros de inglês. Por que será que está
errado?
A língua portuguesa aceita o uso do artigo definido (o, a, os, as) antes de “meu”, “minha”,
“nosso”, “nossa”, “dele”, “delas”, etc. É comum dizermos ‘o meu nome’, ‘a irmã dela’, ‘os
livros dele’, ‘as cartas deles’, etc. Já em inglês, isso não é possível. Ou seja, não devemos usar
o artigo ‘the’ antes dos Adjetivos Possessivos e Pronomes Possessivos em inglês. Portanto,
não dizemos ‘ my name’, ‘her brother’, ‘his books’, ‘their letters’. Não cometa esse erro.

• "Much" e "Many"
Much and many are mainly used in interrogative and negative sentences. They
can also be used in affirmative and negative phrases when combined with too
and so. Note: the word many can be used individually in affirmative sentences,
but the term much cannot. Much should be replaced in affirmative sentences by
the term a lot of or lots of (such expressions can also replace the term many).
Much e many são principalmente utilizados em frases interrogativas e negativas.
Eles também podem ser utilizados em frases afirmativas e negativas quando
combinados com too e so. Nota: a palavra many pode ser utilizada
individualmente em frases afirmativas, mas o termo much não pode. Much deve
ser substituído nas frases afirmativas pelo termo a lot of ou lots of (tais
expressões também podem substituir o termo many).

(Não sei o que fazer com tanto açúcar.) (É um problema quando há tantas pessoas.)

(Eu queria que não houvesse tanto açúcar aqui) (Não havia tantas pessoas no ano passado.)
• Enough
Enough can be used as a quantifier when inserted before any noun, to indicate
the required quantity. The term can be used in both affirmative and negative
sentences.
Numbers
Cardinal numbers (one, two, three, etc.) are numeral adjectives
referring to quantity, and ordinal numbers (first, second, third, etc.)
refer to distribution.
• Decimals
English decimal numbers use a period, not a comma, to separate the
whole number from the rest. To speak the decimal numbers, you must
read the entire value, if any, followed by the word "point" and the
individual digits. When there is a zero before the period, it must not be
spoken. When referring to money, decimals are spoken in another way
(see below).
Os números decimais em inglês utilizam um ponto, e não uma vírgula,
para separar o número inteiro do restante. Para falar os números
decimais, deve-se ler o valor inteiro, quando houver, seguido pela
palavra "point" (ponto) e pelos dígitos individuais. Quando houver um
zero antes do ponto, ele não deve ser falado. Quando se referem a
dinheiro, os decimais são falados de outra maneira (ver mais abaixo).

0.25 Point Two Five
0.73 Point Seven Three
0.05 Point Zero Five
0.6529 Point Six Five Two Nine
2.95 Two Point Nine Five
• Fractions
In English, we express a fraction orally using cardinals in the numerators
and ordinals in the denominators. If the numerator is greater than 1,
the denominator must be spoken in the plural (except the number 2,
which must be read as "half", when the numerator is equal to 1, and
"halves", when the numerator is greater than 1 ).
Escrito Falado
1/3 One Third
3/4 Three Fourths
5/6 Five Sixths
1/2 One Half
3/2 Three Halves
• Percentage
It is easy to speak percentage in the English language. Just say the number and
include the word "percent".

25% Twenty-five Percent

100% One Hundred Percent
400% Four Hundred Percent
• Sums of Money
To speak a monetary value, you must first read the number completely,
and then indicate the name of the currency. If there are decimals, they
must be read as whole numbers after the period. If cents have a name,
include that term at the end (for example, in the case of US dollars we
would say "cents" after the decimal). These rules apply only to sums of
money.
• Years
Os anos com apenas três dígitos podem ser lidos como números de três
dígitos ou como um número de um dígito seguido por um número de
dois dígitos. Os anos com dois dígitos são falados como números
inteiros. Você pode utilizar os termos "the year" antes de qualquer ano
para melhorar o sentido da frase, o que é comum com anos de dois e
três dígitos. Os anos anteriores ao ano 0 são seguidos pelo termo "BC",
pronunciado como duas letras do alfabeto.
Escrito Falado
Three Point Zero Four Plus Two Point
3.04+2.02=5.06
Zero Two Makes Five Point Zero Six.

complete pair. It is equivalent to "not one or the other". When referring
to only one member of the pair, neither should be used before a
singular noun. It can also be used with a plural noun or pronoun if it is
followed by the term "of".

When other is used with countable nouns in the plural and one of these determinants, the
noun can be omitted, when understood by the context. In this case, other must go to the
plural. This can also happen when other is used on its own, but these cases are less
common.
Quando other for utilizado com substantivos contáveis no plural e um desses determinantes,
