ABSTRACT
This file provides a template for writing papers for the conference. The conference
proceedings will be published in an electronic format only and abstracts will also be printed to
hand outs. The full paper in MS Word file shall be written in compliance with these
instructions. An abstract not exceeding 300 words (400 characters in Japanese) should appear
on the top of the first page, after the title of the paper in chapter titled "Abstract" (without
chapter number), after the names of the authors and the contact information of the
corresponding author.
1. INTRODUCTION
It is expected that authors will submit carefully written and proofread material. Spelling
and grammatical errors, as well as language usage problems, are not acceptable. It is
suggested that the article has 6 to 8 pages in case the author wishes to submit the work
to the event proceedings and 15 to 20 pages for submission to the digital book . Papers
should clearly describe the background of the subject, the authors work, including the
methods used, and concluding discussion on the importance of the work. Papers are to be
prepared in English, Japanese or Portuguese recommending that the author use the same
language used in the Expanded Abstract.
Technical terms should be explained unless they may be considered to be known to the
broader Japanese Language Education community. Acronyms should be written out at their
first appearance. As in the elaboration of the Expanded Abstract, it is expected that the article
will be constituted by the following sections: Introduction (including the objective, theoretical

reference and method); Analysis and comment of the content and / or discussion of the
results; Conclusion or Final Considerations, and Bibliographic References.
The submissions shall be presented in two versions: the first one with no identification of
the author and the second one with it. In the anonymous version, the author should remove
from the text, endnotes and properties any reference that can identify it, ensuring the "blind"
evaluation criteria.
2. PAPER FORMAT
The uniform outlook will help the reader to follow the proceedings. This can be
obtained most easily if authors use this template file to construct their papers. Please note the
following details: this template is an A4 format with 30 mm margins top and left, and 20 mm
right and bottom. Header and footer shall be positioned 12,5 mm from the edge.
The position and style of the title and subtitle should follow this model, and should be
written in capital letters, bold, size 12, centralized, single spaced.
The author's name should be indicated right-aligned in size 12, and if there is more than
one author, the applicant must indicate who will be the first and the second author. A brief
resume indicating academic titles, institution and email address of the author(s) should appear
in the footnote. In case of foreign applicant, indicate country of origin. The abstract and the
keywords should follow this model.
The titles of each section of the work should be positioned to the left, in bold, in capital
letters, numbered with Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, etc.) in size 12.
All text paragraphs should be justified, have 1.5 spacing between the lines, with the first
line of each paragraph spaced 15 mm from the left margin.
2.1 Fonts
Papers should use 12-point Times New Roman font, (MS-明朝 font for Japanese). The
styles available are bold, italic and underlined.
It is recommended that text in figures is not smaller than 10-point font size.
2.2 Quotes
Quote of authors throughout the text is done in uppercase and lowercase letters [ex.
According to the author Alfredo Gung (1980) ...], while the citation of authors in brackets at
the end of paragraph should be in uppercase [ex. GUNG 1980, p.100].
XII Congresso Internacional de Estudos Japoneses no Brasil
XXV Encontro Nacional de Professores Universitários de Língua, Literatura e Cultura Japonesa
Estudos japoneses: Singularidades e novos rumos
In the case of long quotations (more than 3 lines), they shall come in a separate
paragraph, indented 4 cm from the left margin, with justified text and smaller body (size 10)
and single spaced.
Figure captions and table headings should be sufficient to explain the figure or table
without needing to refer to the text. Figures and tables not cited in the text should not be
presented. Styles Heading Table and Caption Figure are available in this template for tables
and figures.
The following is the example for Table 1.
Tables and figures should be placed close after their first reference in the text. All
figures and tables should be numbered with Arabic numerals. Table headings should be
centred above the tables. Figure captions should be centred below the figures.
3. CONCLUSION
Conclusions should state concisely the most important propositions of the paper as well
as the author’s views of the practical implications of the results.
BIBLIOGRAPHY
References in the text should be indicated by Arabic numerals in square brackets that
run consecutively through the paper The reference list should contain only literature
references; other information (e.g. experimental details) should be placed either in the body of
the text, or as a footnote. Authors should ensure that all references are cited in the text and
vice versa. References must be submitted with Times New Roman, size 12, single spaced, and
in alphabetical order. Each reference should contain only one literature citation. Authors are
expected to check the original source reference for accuracy. Journal titles should be
abbreviated according to American Chemical Society guidelines (The ACS Style Guide;
Dodd, J. S., Ed.: American Chemical Society: Washington, DC, 1997).
