Essa pesquisa foi aprovada pelo Comitê de Ética em Uso Animal da
Universidade Federal do Tocantins (protocolo 23101.002955-2018-0)
Microscopia
As amostras fecais mantidas no dicromato de potássio a 5% foram concentradas
e purificadas por meio da técnica de centrifugação em água-éter (MELONI;
THOMPSON, 1996 - modificado). O éter etílico foi substituído por acetado de etila,
sendo este mais barato e menos tóxico. Posteriormente, para análise microscópica uma
gota do sedimento foi corada por verde malaquita (ELLIOT; MORGAN; THOMPSON,
1999) e observada ao microscópio ótico de luz convencional com aumento de 400x.
Resultados
Os sinais clínicos de LVC mais frequentemente encontrados nos cães
examinados foram linfadenomegalia (89,1%), seguidos de esplenomegalia (68,3%),
hepatomegalia e onicogrifose, ambos com (59,4%), alopecia (52,5%), lesão cutânea
(51,5%), hiperqueratose (40,6%), úlcera de pele (38,6%), lesão ocular (53,6%),
caquexia (30,7%), dermatite seborreica (28,7%) e ceratoconjuntivite (8,9%).
Oocistos de Cryptosporidium spp. foram encontrados por microscopia e
confirmados por nPCR em apenas uma das 101 amostras fecais colhidas (figura 1). A
sequência do amplicon apresentou 100% de identidade genética com C. canis. O animal
era adulto, fêmea e sintomático e apresentava os seguintes sinais clínicos: caquexia e
rarefação pilosa em tórax, mucosa gengival pálida, esplenomegalia e onicogrifose
(figura 2). A consistência das fezes era pastosa.
Discussão
Conclusão
Concluímos que os médicos veterinários devam alertar os tutores de cães sobre a
possibilidade de transmissão zoonótica por C. canis, ainda que C. parvum e C. hominis
sejam as principais espécies causadoras de criptosporidiose em humanos.
