QUANDO USAR?
Usamos o Present Continuous para falar sobre o que está acontecendo agora.

COMO CRIAR FRASES E PERGUNTAS NO “PRESENT

CONTINUOUS”
FRASES AFIRMATIVAS:

Sujeito + BE + gerúndio (verb-ing)

Ex. I am working right now. Estou trabalhando agora.
Ex. We are driving. Estamos diriginho.
Ex. The baby is sleeping. O bebê está dormindo.

FRASES NEGATIVAS:

Sujeito + BE + NOT + gerúndio (verb-ing)

Ex. I’m not doing the dishes right now. Não estou lavando a louça agora.
Ex. The students aren’t (are + not = aren’t) studying. Os alunos não estão estudando.
Ex. My computer isn’t (is + not = isn’t) working. Meu computador não está funcionando.

FRASES INTERROGATIVAS:

BE + sujeito + gerúndio?
Ex. Am I cooking? Estou cozinando?
Ex. Aren’t they sleeping? Eles não estão dormindo?
Ex. Is it raining? Está chovendo?

MAIS EXEMPLOS
1. The baby is sleeping. O nenê está dormindo.
2. The children are playing with their toys. As crianças estão brincando com os brinquedos
deles.
3. I’m making a birthday cake. Estou fazendo um bolo de aniversário.
4. What are you drinking? O que você está bebendo?
5. My computer isn’t working. Meu computador não está funcionando.
6. Is it snowing? Está nevando?
7. The students aren’t taking a test. Os alunos não estão fazendo uma prova.
8. Tom is buying flowers for his wife. O Tom está comprando flores para a mulher dele.
9. Someone is knocking on the door. Alguém está batendo na porta.
10. Mrs. Johnson is walking her dog in the park. Sra. Johnson está passeando com o cachor-
ro dela no parque.

1. Megan and Scott are seeing each other. A Megan e o Scott estão namorando (no começo
do namoro).
I see something strange over there. Estou vendo uma coisa estranha lá.

2. What are you thinking about? No que você está pensando?

I think you’re right. Eu acho que você está certo.

3. Mary is having a bad day. A Mary está tendo um dia ruim.

Mary has a motorcycle. A Mary tem uma moto.

4. Ben is being really annoying right now. O Ben está sendo muito chato agora.
You are very handsome. Você é muito lindo.
