1 - Generally speaking, schools have looked the same for the last 75 years or more. Indeed, the way schools
are organized has changed little either. Children are still typically grouped by age first and then by ability
second. Of course, technology is now a key part of the classroom, and interactive whiteboards may have
replaced the traditional chalkboards. But still the basic premise remains the same – the teacher stands at the
front facing rows of desks which students sit behind
2-Many people will be asking the question: What should the school of the future look like? With the
technology and software that is available today, let alone in 20/30 years‘ time, the idea of a virtual classroom
could become common place.
3-Many educationalists believe that some of the things schools do are simply obsolete now. These include
losing school days either through illness or bad weather. Technology has made remote working simple. The
possibilities and potential it offers – no more commuting into the office, for example – are endless. Many
companies have already embraced remote and flexible working opportunities. The trend is only likely to grow
in the years to come – and it could extend into the world of education too.
4-Of course, we should never underestimate the value of classroom conversations and social interactions. But,
it is also true the technology now enables students to shoot and edit video, make a radio show, design posters
and websites, blog – and interact on line as well.
5-The question should be asked: Is the traditional classroom now redundant? Many educationalists now
believe that it‘s only a matter of time before robots – intelligent machines – begin to replace teachers in school.
There will always be a place for, but intelligent machines will be able to offer a more individual and
personalized experience for students overall. Disponível em: https://www.typekids.com/blog/the-school-of-

1-One rainy afternoon I was sitting at home feeling so bored. Instead of feeling sorry for myself, I wanted to
meet people and have new experiences so I decided to start volunteering. I logged onto my computer and
found a website where I could volunteer on a farm in France.
2-Volunteering provides so many opportunities to have fun and share great stories. My time working on a
farm was a new experience for me. It was basically a free holiday as food and accommodation were provided.
However, it was not your typical holiday as I had to look after fifteen horses and sleep at the top of a tower in
a fourteenth century castle! I soon discovered that I was an awful farmer but it did not matter because I made
some great friends and also improved my French.
3-However, you do not need to go abroad to volunteer. I have had plenty of adventures at home as volunteering
can become a hobby. For example, I love singing so I had a good laugh waving my arms in an attempt to
conduct my local choir. I did slowly improve and it felt great to conduct the choir in a concert. At university,
I organized a concert for charity with my friends. It was really fun finding bands and raising money for a cause
we believe in.
4-It is true that you feel good volunteering but there are also other advantages. I once volunteered as a steward
at a charity sports event where the organizers gave me cupcakes from an expensive London bakery to thank
me for my services. I also volunteered in a charity shop so I found loads of nice cheap clothes to update my
wardrobe.
5-While this is all fun, my favorite aspect of volunteering is creating and sharing stories. My terrible attempts
at farming have given me hilarious stories to tell! Talking to volunteers from different countries and
backgrounds has also helped me learn more about the world. I feel thankful to have had so much fun with
many nice people thanks to volunteering.

Within the last decade, music festivals have grown into a major moneymaker in a competitive industry
that sees hundreds of such events each year in the U.S. There are the big ones – Coachella, Lollapalooza,
Outside Lands, Governors Ball – with big-ticket prices, multiple stages, camping options and nearly endless
lists of performers. And alongside their rise in popularity, hundreds of smaller, niche or genre-specific festivals
have flourished. Look up “music festival near me,” and you‟re likely to 149oney149l149 within at least a few
hours‟ drive.
The origins of music festivals date back to ancient Greece, 149oney such events often involved
competitions in music, arts and sports. Modern music festivals in the U.S. grew out of the establishment and
ethos of Woodstock. Though it was not the first 149oney149l149 its kind (the Newport Folk and Jazz Festivals,
Milwaukee‟s Summerfest and the Monterey Pop Festival predate Woodstock), the 1969 event holds
a mythical place within American pop-cultural history. Festivals have since evolved from the DIY,
149oney149l spirit of Woodstock, growing into mainstream businesses that reap profits and embrace corporate
sponsorships, as more than 32 million people attend them each year, according to Billboard. Coachella, one
of the most popular festivals in the country, grossed $114.6 million in 2017, setting a major record for the first
recurring festival franchise to earn more than $100 million. “They used to be more of a communion of culture,”
says Carlos Chirinos, a professor of clinical music and global health at New York University. “A group of
people who were into the same type of music, 149one would come together. That was the driving force
throughout the 1970s and 1980s until it became a profitable format.” [...]
For artists, appearing at music festivals is na easier way to make 149oney than depending onrecord sales
or long tours, says Rishi Bahl, a musician and marketing professor at La Roche College in Pittsburgh, Pa.
As record sales saw a steep decline in the early-to mid-2000s thanks to the growth of digital music, artists
began depending on touring to earn 149oney. Bahl says festival organizers quickly caught on to the spike in
artists taking to the road and decided to pay them more to appear at their events. He notes that the majority of
the touring schedule for a band like the Offspring, which played Woodstock ‟99, now consists of festival
performances. Of the 20 shows the Offspring is playing the remainder of this year, about 15 are at music
festivals. [...]

Cosplay, or costume play, is a popular trend where people dressing up mimicking fictional
characters from anime, manga (comics), video games and movies etc. Japan is generally
credited as the origin of cosplay, but there are no actual facts of when the cosplay culture
started. The credit for coining the word ‘cosplay’ seems more apparent though... although
there are a few versions on how it was created, the credit goes to Nobuyuki Takahashi
when he first used the word in some Japanese magazines in 1983/1984. “Akibanana” has
some scanned image of the My Anime magazine released in June 1983, which is said to
be where the word first appeared, written in Japanese – コスプレ (kosupure)

Levi’s jeans launched a new advertising campaign in Europe. Like most ads, these used music. And
what did the advertising agency choose? Handel’s “Sarabande in D minor”.
Most bands and groups are really happy to record music for ads. People associate
their name with specific products — cellphones, jeans, and so on. This helps them to
become famous. It also makes it easier to sell their other things – CDs and tickets for their
concerts. Of course, they prefer to provide music for “cool” produtos. And there can be
ethical problems. Will a vegetarian group provide music for a hamburger ad? Words or
emotions? In the past, most ads used “jingles” — special words and music written about the
product. But now these soundtracks are more like movie music. They express a mood,
which reinforces the visual message. Often, people remember the music, and want to
know who performed it — and wrote it. Then the sales of other music by the same composer
usually increase dramatically. Movie music – the new classics? The sales of movie music
can be enormous. Soundtracks like “Gladiator”, “Apocalypse Now” and “Titanic” are really
popular. And their success can be worldwide, too, just like the movies. “Gladiador”
sold more than a million copies. For more composers, writing movie soundtracks
compensates for the difficulty of making money from their “serious” work. But what’s the
difference? Pop music, dance music, classical... Perhaps it’s just music. HOLDEN, Susan. Macmillan

Many cohousing community websites demonstrate their commitment to improving the community and
the world. For example, at Sunward Cohousing near Ann Arbor, MI, the goal is to create a place
“where lives are simplified, the Earth is respected, diversity is welcomed, children play together in safety,
and living in community with neighbors comes naturally.” Sonora Cohousing in Tucson, AZ, seeks “a
diversity of backgrounds, ages and opinions, with our one shared value being the commitment to working
out our problems and finding consensus solutions that satisfy all members.”
Tierra Nueva Cohousing in Oceano, CA, exists “because each of us desires a greater sense of
community, as well as strong interaction with and support from our neighbors.”
sthere a participation requirement?
Participation ebbs and flows among individual members as their personal lives allow them to contribute
more time or less time to the community. There needs to be a mutual trust among members that
everyone is doing what they can at any given time. A minimum level of participation generally
includes cleaning the common house or maintaining the commonly owned grounds. Participation is
dependent upon the community’s needs.
What about conflict?
Conflict happens. One of cohousing’s greatest strengths is the assumption that members can work out
their disagreements. Most cohousing communities use consensus decision-making, which tends to
satisfy most residents and give them a sense of participation on challenging issues. Some communities
convene a conflict-resolution team when a particularly hot issue arises. Because many cohousing residents
are seeking a collaborative and cooperative environment, disagreements are often worked out to the
satisfaction of all involved. Cohousing residents share the common goal of making their lives more enjoyable
by cooperating with their neighbors.
