1. INT. QUARTO - DIA (SOM)
CHARLIE
A week, I guess, without-- Without
drinking... I can't remember. The
days have been a memory test. It's
like-- It's like I'm paddling
through a sea of darkness. Just
me... Just darkness... And nothing
more.

REMBRANDT
É um rei velho. Já teve todas as
mulheres que queria. E mais, foi
possuído por um espirito maligno.
REMBRANDT
Não conhece a história do rei Saul?
REMBRANDT
Saul foi um grande rei e um grande
herói para seu povo. Forte e
poderoso, o ar do céu lhe enchia o
peito e o cabelo crescia como uma
juba de leão. Mas o espírito do
Senhor não havia caído sobre ele e
aquele que não carrega dentro de si
o espírito do Senhor todo o poder e
riquezas do mundo não lhe satisfaz
pois terá o coração aflito. Nesse
momento, o jovem DAVID estava
cuidando das ovelhas de seu pai.
Era um jovem distinto, loiro, de
boa aparência, mas era pobre e
desprezado.
Como em um corte repentino em seu rosto, cenas do filme
L'Infern de 1911 ocupam a imagem.
REMBRANDT (CONT.)
E o Senhor disse: "Eu não vejo o
que vê o homem... Pois o homem vê o
que está diante dos seus olhos, mas
Deus vê o coração". E o rei era
atormentado por um espírito mal...
A noite gritava e não dormia e o
seu coração endureceu. Então seus
amigos lhe levaram ao jovem David
pois tocava bem a harpa e tinha uma
bonita voz ao cantar. Nesta noite
tocou diante do Rei até que o
espírito mal se apartou dele. E a
paz entrou em sua alma.
Passos.
CHARLIE
I don't think you're a doctor.
DELIRIUM
No, Charles, I'm not.
CHARLIE
Are you here to help me?
DELIRIUM
Sorry, but I couldn't. Any problem
in smoking here?
CHARLIE (V.O.)
I remember you, but your face is so
strange to me. Your voice, on the
other hand, it's not.
DELIRIUM
That's ok, Charlie, stay in bed. I
just wanna know something...
ALESS
Isn't his fault, you know that. He
cannot live at your mercy. He's not
yours, he's lively.
(HIM)
I don't give a shit what the fuck
he or you can or not to do. If I
say yes, he has to say yes, can
fucking understand this? Every
fuckin' night he makes me want to
hang him-- this piece of sh--!

Why did you kill her?

seus olhos, indicando sua morte, outra, dessa vez com traços
mais grossos e totalmente preta, sem rosto, indicando uma
sombra e, ao lado, o que parece ser uma criança.
TELA PRETA.
CHARLIE
What do you think it is?
CORTA PARA:
ALESS
About the painting?
CHARLIE
Yeah.
ALESS
Someone who discovered death.
CHARLIE
You think that he just found the
body?
ALESS
Well... Yes... I think.
Não se nota que se está em outra fita até que a mão com a

faca se erga.
FADE-OUT
CHARLIE
I didn't even know why the punches
hit so hard but I didn't care - not
in most, and that was the most
painful. Nothing to care about. I
used to cry a lot, almost everyday.
I... The fun that I have wasn't
mine anymore, but they were his.
And everything were his, just like
I was. I prayed that nothing would
happen, but... Well, no one ever
really listened to me.
Um prebistério vazio.
DELIRIUM
I listened. Your silent screams.
The noise of the door. Your back
hitting the wall. And the whispers.
All of them. Did you hear me?
CHARLIE
I... I am a week... A week, I
guess, without—Without drink----
DELIRIUM
8
CHARLIE
(voz distorcida)
Yes.
DELIRIUM
You recognize it. The steps. You
remember, don't ya?
CHARLIE
I could hear miles away.
CHARLIE

TICK TACK
CHARLIE
...and nothing more.
TICK TACK
CUT TO BLACK
TICK TACK
CHARLIE (CONT.)
It was three o’clock and I was
still awaken. Still running...
TICK.
CHARLIE (CONT.)
Still listening to it. Was a
difficult day.
TACK.
DELIRIUM
You killed it.
TICK.
CHARLIE
But nothing besides that.
TACK.
DELIRIUM
You killed it.
TICK.
10
CHARLIE
It was my mother’s funeral.
TACK.
DELIRIUM
How was yours.
TICK. TACK.
CHARLIE
(distorcido, entrecortado,
manipulado)
And everything was him, almost
everyday, just like I was.
DELIRIUM
Medication time, "picklehead".
CHARLIE
(no telefone)
No fear. No loneliness. No me.
CUT TO BLACK
ALESS
(risadas amigaveis)
...Yeah, kind of. Y'know... There's
a time when I would love to run
around galleries. Like the Louvre
or something like that. Looked so
fool to want this or, I don't know,
read the poems I love aloud. Know
where I am in the world, if I'm
breathing, moving and alive. Being
not just flesh peeling blood but
reason and reaction, beyond anyone
else. Being me.
Sounds like a dream, doesn't it?
CHARLIE
My dreams still have me.
CUT TO BLACK
MÚSICO
(eufórico)
Fuck. I'm sorry.
Não se vê, mas ele liga o que parece ser uma éspecie de rádio
ou, também, uma televisão. Uma cantoria tipica de boemios
começa, pertencente a TIREZ SUR LE PIANISTE (1960).
CHARLIE
SHE always have this passion for
music, in general - even though the
silence was much better for him.

CORTE
CHARLIE
They were. But Aless, unlike my
mom, didn't have this passion for
music or anything like that. She
was very visual.
17. BLANK.
CHARLIE
14
CHARLIE
There's no fear, no loneliness...
No me.
ALESS
Well, you are still here. That
counts, I think.
CHARLIE
Yeah...
(ele ri)
Maybe.
ALESS
It’s funny, y’know. It's your
unknown who scares you, after all.
The inability to fear.
CHARLIE
I’m not beyond fear, just sick
enough.
ALESS
Maybe that’s just your head saying
“Look at me. I can’t hide it
anymore.”
CHARLIE
I’m not crazy, Aless.
ALESS
I’m not saying that.
CHARLIE
I’m. Not. Fucking. Crazy.
(incisivo)
ALESS
I’M NOT SAYING THAT, picklehead.
15
CHARLIE
Thanks for making me diseased of
you, too.
ALESS
Sometimes it scares me how you run
away everytime.
CHARLIE
Cheers.
ALESS
Fuck you.
CHARLIE
Thanks again.
ALESS
I don’t know what the fuck I’m
doing here, if you don’t let me in.
(MAIS)
ALESS (CONT.)
Hey, wait, I know why: I’m seeing
you killing yourself drinking like
an fucking alcoholic.
DELIRIUM (V.O.)
Want me to pause?
CHARLIE (V.O.)
No, keep it.
CHARLIE
I’m not an alcoholic. I can handle
it, it’s fine.
ALESS
Running away like this?
CHARLIE
Why I couldn’t? Everything’s
16
ALESS
Not drinking, for sure. But... Ok.
You’re not crazy. And then,
Charles? What happens next?
Silencio.
PAUSE.
DELIRIUM
What a play you both have. And you
say you're not crazy... What's
craziness, then?
CHARLIE
You didn't have to pause.
DELIRIUM
Don't you know what happens next,
little Charle?

Who are you talking to? What are
these scores? Those drinks... These

me. Please, Charl---
31. BLACK.
CHARLIE
FUCK! I CAN'T! I FUCKING CAN'T!
CHARLES morde sua própria mão para abafar sua dor e seus
possiveis outros gritos de ódio. Momentaneamente, ao se tirar
a mão da boca, ele ri. De desespero.
CHARLIE
He was that bad, wasn't he?
Is he fault, isn't?
DELIRIUM
Is it? Was really he, after all?

39. NO SIGNAL.
DELIRIUM
I know you can't. But you're not
even trying. You can't change the
past. You're not directing any of
this. This is UNDER you. Like it or
not. Don't be scared.
CHARLIE
I'm not.
DELIRIUM
Oh, yes. I'm sorry. I forgot.
CHARLIE
You can go. The door is still open.
DELIRIUM
I’m afraid I can’t do that too.
DELIRIUM
There is a thing, little Charle.
But you can't listen, can you? The
lost thoughts. The claim of the
death over your head... How could
you? Stuck in this bed, stuck in
23
CHARLIE
I remember you now.
DELIRIUM
I'm sure you do.
CHARLIE

Play it.

CHARLIE (DELIRIUM)
He's driving me crazy.
CHARLIE (DELIRIUM)
I could fucking kill him. I think
that I'm totally capable of killing
him. And I would feel nothing but
pleasure.
CHARLIE (DELIRIUM)
I can’t remember any of our fights.
Only the silence, after the
screams. She could never
understand.
FADE IN:
CHARLIE (DELIRIUM)
Too close to them but so far...
CHARLIE (DELIRIUM)
There's always a toy. A boat in the
water, a bear in the chair, a
raven, a cat, a guitar, a knife, an
axe... And a woman in the couch.
Always a toy. Always.

So far from harmony.
ZOOM-OUT.

DIRK
Was ist los, Adi? Ich sehe dein
Gesicht trauriger als
gestern.
ADI
Ich habe heute Morgen keine schönen
Blumen im Garten gefunden, Dirk.
DIRK
Die Blumen werden morgen schöner
geboren als heute.
ADI
Aber du hast gestern dasselbe
gesagt und nichts anderes
ist passiert.
DIRK
Die Blumen wurden heute früher
schöner geboren.
ADI
Jeden Tag steche ich mit Dornen in
meine Hände und blute aus meinen
Augen. Ist nicht wahr
DIRK
Es ist wahr, sage ich. Die Blumen
wurden heute früher schöner
geboren.
ADI
Was ist dann los?
27
DIRK
Sie infizieren Blumen mit Ihrem
Dreck.
ADI
Aber ich bin sauber. Warum sagst du
das?
DIRK
Ist es oder versucht es zu sein?
ADI
Aber...
DIRK
Es ist einfach, Adi.
ADI
Wie einfach?
DIRK
Stecke deine Hände tiefer und
tiefer in die dornigen Blüten und
wenn die faule Rinde trockener wird
und du das am weitesten verbreitete
Rot unter den Zweigen siehst, wird
alles schöner geboren. Es wird
genug für Sie sein, sie mit Ihren
Augen herauszuzupfen.
CHARLIE
I think that I am a weakling,
without drinking. I’m paddling
through all of this shit and I
don't have nothing.
CHARLIE
(telefone)
I’m not the crazy that you think I
am. Things are fucked up right now,
ok? I just... I just need that you
listen to me. Just fucking listen
to me.
CHARLIE (CONT.)
I didn't think it would changed
anything, but it did. And I'm
afraid... of being beyond myself.
Stuck in me... With him inside my
head. I know he's dead, don't I?
Passos de botas.
CHARLIE
(telefone)
We will talk tonight, alright? Fuck
it. I don't care about any of this,
but we need to fucking talk
TONIGHT.
ALESS
(no telefone)
Fuck. I can't, Charles.
CHARLIE
(no telefone)
What do you mean? Why you can't? I
need... I need you.
ALESS
(no telefone)
Because I'm afraid of you, Charles.
I don't want to see you. Never
again. Just the fact that I'm
hearing your voice right now...
Shit. I-- I need to go back to
work.
29
CHARLIE
(no telefone)
Aless... Please. Don't hang up. I
don't know what I have done, but...
Everything is fine now, alright? I
said that I could handle and I did.
I don't owe him anything else. I
killed it.
ALESS
(no telefone)
How melancholy an existence,
Charlie... I wish you could hear
yourself. I cannot live at your
fuckin’ mercy. I'm not yours. I'm
lively. Goodbye.
ALESS
(retrocedendo)
I’m lively. I’m LIVELY. I’M LIVELY.
I‘M L I V E L Y.
