Abstract
The present work was conceived with the objective of Analyzing the effects of the mining
activity in relation to the happening of the waters that affect the health of the communities in
Natala Village. The debates within the Government, academics, politicians, researchers and civil
society in general, about mining activity at national level, reveal the economic and social
importance that this activity has for the growth and sustainable economic development of the
country, in particularly the district of Namuno, as well as an alternative source for improving the
socio-economic scenario of Mozambique. The study was carried out on the basis of a
bibliographic search for familiarization with the theme and its systematization. An exploratory
research was used, based on secondary data complemented with the literature review and a semi-
structured interview. Empirically, the work concluded that during the period between 2016-2018,
mining activity in the District of Namuno was found, water pollution mainly due to the washing
of the layers in its beds, and is associated with the lack of actions for protection of the same
resource, contributing to a certain extent to the decrease in the supply of water for public supply
in the area covered by mining. This time, we found that most prospectors are the result of social
marginalization and the lack of a fair and structured rural policy. Many people from extremely
poor rural communities find it in the mining industry to develop the activity without, however,
noticing the various risks that run in these areas.
