COMO FORMAMOS O PRESENT PROGRESSIVE?

Afirmativo

O present progressive ou continuous é facilmente reconhecido pelo -ing

no verbo principal. Por exemplo:

O verbo assistir, seria em inglês “to watch”.

Uma frase com o verbo conjugado no present progressive seria:

I am watching a movie right now. (Eu estou assistindo à um filme agora.)

Em regra, o present progressive possui dois verbos: o verbo to be e um

verbo principal com o -ing. Vejamos novamente a frase:

I am watching a movie right now.

AK: 1. am jogging; 2. is working; 3. is studying; 4. are having; 5. Is always using

Neste tempo verbal, somente o verbo to be será conjugado.

Pronome Verb to be Verbo principal + restante da frase

I (Eu) am watching a movie right now.
You (Você) are watching a movie right now.
He/ She / It Is watching a movie right now.
We (Nos) are watching a movie right now.
They (Eles) are watching a movie right now.

Negativo

Para criar uma frase negativa, conjugamos o verb to be e adicionamos o

not. Em seguida o verbo principal com -ing. Por exemplo

I am not watching any TV show right now. (Eu não estou assistindo
nenhuma série no momento)

She is not living with her mother anymore. (Ela não está mais morando com
a mãe)

Pronome Verb to be Verbo principal + restante da frase

I (Eu) am not watching a movie right now.
You (Você) are not watching a movie right now.
He/ She / It is not watching a movie right now.
We (Nos) are not watching a movie right now.
They (Eles) are not watching a movie right now.
AK: 1. am not working; 2. Isn’t going out; 3. aren’t having; 4. aren’t talking;

Informação útil: Na escrita e fala, o is not pode ser reduzido para isn’t,
enquanto o are not, pode ser reduzido para aren’t.

She isn’t living with her mother anymore. (Ela não está mais morando com
a mãe)

They aren’t going to the cinema tonight. (Eles não vão ao cinema hoje a
noite)

Interrogativo

Observem as perguntas abaixo:

Am I disturbing you? (Estou te incomodando?)

Are you studying right now? (Você está estudando no momento?)
Is she having dinner with us? (Ela vai jantar conosco?)

Para formar perguntas no tempo verbal Present Progressive, simplesmente

modificamos a posição do verbo to be.

Na afirmativa dizemos:
You are drinking too much coffee. (Você está tomando muito café.)

Na integorrativa:

Are you drinking too much coffee? (Você está tomando muito café?)
AK: 1. is ... going / 2. are ... eating / 3. is ... playing/ 4. is living / 5. Is... leaving

Também podemos formar perguntas em inglês com Where, What, When,

dentre outros. Neste caso, formamos as perguntas da seguinte maneira:

Where are they living? (Onde eles estão morando?)

What is he doing? (O que ele está fazendo?)

Where, What, When, etc. ocupam a posição inicial na frase, seguidos pelo
verbo auxiliar, o sujeito da frase, e o verbo principal.

Não esqueça de conjugar o verbo to be de acordo com o sujeito da

frase!
