SOBRE O QUE SE APOIA A CIÊNCIA?
OBSERVAÇÃO?

portanto, é necessária uma nova ciência,

• Historiador (podemos distinguir objetividade de intepretação)
•X
• Experiência sensível (impossível distinguir)
E NO CASO DAS CIÊNCIAS HUMANAS? É
POSSÍVEL TRANSMITIR ALGO SEM
PASSAR PELA INTERPRETAÇÃO?
• Positivismo
• Fatos X Valores ?
(Hanson, Patterns of Discovery, p. 7)

concluir a partir delas indução generalizadora
Neste sentido, as teorias precedem a observação” (p. 54)
1) A INDUÇÃO NÃO COMEÇA COM A
OBSERVAÇÃO :
TERMOS OBSERVACIONAIS
X
intensamente colorido” (in: Feyerabend, Against Method, 1975, p. 126)

“Using phenomenal seeing as the typical, paradigm case of seeing is unjustified and misleading. Rather than our ordinary cases of seeing being
logical constructions out of the research scientists’ phenomenal variety of seeing, it is the latter which is a logical destruction of our
ordinary kinds of seeing” (Perception and Discovery, 2nd ed., p. 82)
“In short, material objects are not logical constructions from sense-data; sense-data are logical destructions of material
objects. When our theory-laden observations of things and events in the material world are drawn and quartered by the logician, it is
possible to distinguish several sorts of elements, some of which are present for everyone with normal sensory powers and others of which
are present for some and absent for others depending on their theoretical outlook. At dawn any normal eye can discern a spatial gap
opening between the horizon and the sun, whether it be in the thirteenth century or in the twentieth century. But a great deal more than
normal vision is required to see the sun as the earth’s satellite or, more recently, to see the sun as the center of our planetary system. And
yet, due to man’s insatiable search for intelligibility, it is always as the earth’s satellite or as the center of our planetary system or
as something-or-other that the sun is seen. Who could satisfy a child’s question about the nature of daylight merely by referring him to
the brilliant disc and the widening gap between it and the horizon that greet every normal eye at dawn? Mythology and magic, astrology
and alchemy were just the attempt to put the seeing as and seeing that into our everyday seeing. Without these elements our
daily experience would be a chaotic nightmare of flashes, bumps, and rumbles. In the letter if not exactly the spirit of Kantian philosophy,
“experience would be a meaningless rhapsody.” To extract from our ordinary observations the essence of sensation is a highly
sophisticated, strictly academic undertaking, not without some value perhaps. But whether undertaken for psychological or purely logical
reasons such a process of intellectual abstraction only makes sense when seen against the normal case, i.e., our observations of stars and
street-sweepings as stars and street-sweepings.
