Abstract. The role of capital in the organization of Ribamar space is evidenced from the
transformations in the intra-urban structure of the city, corroborating its restructuring. The
capitalist production of space gives rise to clashes and struggles, denoting the socio-spatial
character that permeates urban studies. This study highlights the process of socio-spatial
segregation based on the differentiation of areas, based on social and economic content. It
synthesizes the spatial analysis based on the intra-urban scale, based on Residencial Nova Terra,
in São José de Ribamar-Ma. It approaches reflections on the production of urban space based
on pre-defined interests by actors who engender the organization of the city and its dynamics. It
highlights the role of the real estate sector and the State as active elements in shaping the socio-
spatial segregation of the area under study. It lists some elements for the analysis of the
investigated phenomenon, highlighting transport, schooling, family income, health and education
equipment, in addition to the leisure areas present in the residential.
