I EU
YOU VOCÊ, TU
HE ELE
SHE ELA
IT ELE,ELA (NEUTRO)
YOU VOCÊS,VÓS
WE NÓS
THEY ELES, ELAS
Vale lembrar que o pronome I, eu, deve estar sempre em letra maiúscula e o IT,
I AM I’M
YOU ARE YOU’RE
HE IS HE’S
SHE IS SHE’S
IT IS IT’S
YOU ARE YOU’RE
WE ARE WE’RE
THE ARE THEY’RE
Frases Negativas
Já nas frases negativas, temos a fusão do Verbo TO BE e do NOT, com
exceção do AM
I AM I’M NOT
YOU ARE YOU AREN’T
HE IS HE ISN’T
SHE IS SHE ISN’T
IT IS IT ISN’T
YOU ARE YOU AREN’T
WE ARE WE AREN’T
THE ARE THEY AREN’T
Para tanto, deverá alterar somente o modo do verbo, para tornar a frase negativa.
I’m not a student. Eu não sou um estudante.
You aren’t at home. Você não está em casa.
E assim por diante.
Frases Interrogativas
ordem. O verbo TO BE que seguia o pronome, passa a trocar de lugar com ele, ou
seja, após o verbo TO BE, colocaremos o pronome.
AM I ....
ARE YOU...
IS HE
IS SHE
IS IT
ARE YOU
ARE WE
ARE THEY
Are you a student? Yes I AM, No I’m not (Não podemos responder colocando a

Coughing Kitties
Maryann Mott
Feline asthma [TO BE] a new disease. It was first described in scientific literature more than 90
years ago, says veterinarian Philip Padrid of the Family Pet Animal Hospital in Chicago.
Nicki Reed, a veterinarian at the University of Edinburgh’s Hospital for Small Animals, says that
when a coughing cat is brought to the clinic, she must first establish if [ARTICLE] cause is
[ARTICLE] infection, asthma, or something more sinister, like a lung mass.
To do this, Reed usually performs an x-ray, takes a lung fluid sample, and conducts a
bronchcoscopy _ an examination that uses a flexible microscope inserted into the cat’s airway.
Most of the time, asthma is a mild disease, Reed says. But in some cases cat’s lungs collapse
or their ribs fracture due to difficulty in breathing.
“I think if we can identify asthmatic cats quite early and get treatments on board to suppress
their cough, then hopefully we can avoid them coming to such extremes,” she said.
The correct form of the verb in “Feline asthma [TO BE] a new disease.” is
A - Were
B – Wasn’t
C – Was
D – Isn’t
E – Is

Segue algumas outras situações;
(cartões-postais) estar no plural, apenas permite o uso do artigo definido the.
Outros casos:
substantivos no singular.
• This is a dictionary.
• That’s a university.
• I have a ewe on my farm.
• A European Journal.
• A one-story house.
• I have an apple.
• She arrived an hour ago.

(UNIOESTE PR/2015)
For many years, the nutrition message has been “five a day” – the recommendation
that five portions of fruit and vegetables are enough to keep disease at bay and help
us to live longer. That advice has been revised upwards. A new study suggests that
people who get seven or more portions a day are healthier. Researchers from
University College London studied the dietary habits of 65,000 adults over a seven-
year period. They concluded that: “A robust inverse association exists between fruit
and vegetable consumption and mortality, with benefits seen in up to 7-plus portions
daily. ” In other words, if you eat more fruit and vegetables, chances are you live
longer.
The researchers put people into five different groups, depending on how much fruit
and veg they ate. They found that those who ate seven or more portions a day had a
42 percent lower risk of death than those who ate just one portion. They
recommended that schools serve healthier meals and that supermarkets put more
emphasis on prominently displaying cheaper produce. They warned that frozen and
canned fruit was linked to higher mortality rates. Some experts say the findings of the
study should be taken with a pinch of salt. One dietician said the findings ignored the
fact that people who eat more fruit and veg are generally wealthier and thus lead
lifestyles that will help them live longer anyway.
Na frase “They found that those who ate seven or more portions a day…”, o pronome
“they” refere-se a:
a) Diferentes grupos
b) Vegetais
c) Pessoas
d) Frutas
e) Pesquisadores

No
Nesta
