Present Tense of Verb To Be

O verbo To Be equivale a dois verbos em português, o verbo Ser e o verbo

Estar. Para saber quando ele é usado como um ou outro é necessário entender
o contexto da frase, contudo, a simples memorização das formas verbais já é
suficiente para uma compreensão inicial.

As formas do verbo To Be são:

Affirmative

Full form Short form

I am I’m - Eu sou/estou
You are You’re - Você é/está
He Singular He’s - Ele é/está
She is She’s - Ela é/está
It* It’s - Ele/Ela é/está

We are We’re - Nós somos/estamos

You are Plural You’re - Vocês são/ estão
They are They’re - Eles/Elas são/ estão

* O It é (usado para se referir a tudo que não é pessoa no singular, ou quando

não se sabe o sexo de quem se fala)

Obs: No inglês, usa-se o verbo to Be para falar da idade. Ex: I’m 28 years old.
