Expanding
1. Read the excerpt from a blog below and discuss the questions that follow.

Although there is a definite difference between past and present lifestyles, the
difference between these two concepts may differ according to income, access to modern
facilities, equipment, education, and lifestyle.
The key difference between past and present lifestyles is that the past lifestyle can be
described as a simple, traditional, home-based lifestyle with a self-sufficient
economy and simple tools. The present lifestyle, on the other hand, is complex,
efficient, comfortable, modern, highly technological, and based on a profit-
maximizing production economy. The complexity or sophistication of the lifestyle may
however depend on the income level, geographical location, and culture.
Adapted from <differencebetween.com>

Do you agree with the aspects mentioned in the excerpt above about how
changes have happened from the past to the present day?
Is the world changing faster than before? Why do you think so?
Why are some people better than others at dealing with change?
2. Now, take a look at the excerpt from an article.

The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed nearly every aspect of our world. Seemingly
overnight, the quirky became mundane. Meanwhile, our friends, family, colleagues, and
communities have had their lives changed in critical ways that promise to have much
longer-lasting effects. Living through a global pandemic has driven dramatic shifts in our
jobs, eating habits, childcare, and even our collective sense of time.
Adapted from <Fortune.com>

In pairs/small groups, talk to your classmates and discuss what has changed in your
lives as well as in your city/state/country from the beginning of the pandemic to now.
Be prepared to share your thoughts. Use the language you have learned this unit.
