Os Suyás (Suiá ou Kĩsêdjê) são um grupo indígena
que habita o estado brasileiro de Mato Grosso, mais
precisamente a Terra Indígena Wawi e Norte do
Parque Indígena do Xingu.

De acordo com o Siasi/Sesai de 2020 sua população é


de 536 pessoas.

Sua linguagem é a Jê

A música é muito importante para os Kĩsêdjê. Em seu universo
cosmológico, os Kĩsêdjê cantam porque através dos cantos
podem restaurar ou criar a ordem de seu mundo. Trata-se de
uma sociedade em que todos “fazem música” — nela, fazer
música é também dançar, fazer política e comunicar algo sobre
si mesmo. É o que tece a relação entre o indivíduo e o coletivo.

A sociedade Kĩsêdjê não foi fundada por um criador ou por um herói cultural, mas se deu em uma
série de episódios envolvendo seres humanos "normais".
A sociedade Kĩsêdjê tomou forma através da apropriação de traços específicos de animais e
inimigos indígenas. Assim, o fogo (e a prática de cozinhar) foi obtido do Jaguar; o milho (e a
prática de plantar) foi obtido do camundongo; e o sistema de nomeação (básico para a
identidade social e para todas as cerimônias) foi obtido de um povo inimigo que vivia
debaixo da terra. Os Kĩsêdjê dizem que mais tarde encontraram um grupo muito parecido
com eles mesmos, que usavam discos labiais e que escarificavam seus corpos, mas que eram
canibais, de quem incorporaram tais costumes. Já as canções foram aprendidas de inimigos
míticos e índios Kĩsêdjê em vias de metamorfose em veado ou queixada. Conseqüentemente,
a visão que os Kĩsêdjê têm de si mesmos é de uma sociedade formada através da apropriação
seletiva do que era bom e bonito de outros seres.
