Unborn Babies Hooked on Soap Operas

Babies are becoming soap opera addicts, while they are still in their mothers womb, a new
study reveals. But its not the plot of the shows that calls the unborn childrens attention, it is the
theme music. The study done at Queens University in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and reported in
Psychology Today __________ that when mothers are regular watchers of sops, their babies can
recognize the themes after birth and the music has calming effect on the infants. Researchers
suspect that since the mothers are relaxing while watching TV shows, their babies associate the
music with comfort and quiet after listening to it hundreds of times. In this study, two out seven
infants with soap-fan moms stopped crying almost the instant they hear the theme music from their
moms favorite soap. Whats more, six of seven appeared to actually watch the show.
