Coupling between micro, meso and macro scale phenomena is necessary to
model alloy solidification. Microsegregation and macrosegregation models
are relatively well established. In macroscopic scale, the mushy zone is
frequently considered a porous media. Despite being a good approach for
equations describing liquid flow in that region, the consequences of
convection on dendrite growth are sometimes lost. These effects have been
object of study using phase field method. But the velocity field was imposed
and natural convection was not considered. In this work we present a model
based
on Boussinesq assumption for solute driven convection around an

idealized 3-D equiaxed dendrite immersed in an isothermal liquid
environment. The specific aim is to validate an algorithm for coupled species
and

not present.
