READING
Read the text.
I’m crazy about the place where I study, Los Angeles High
School. It’s a great school for students that love visual and
performing arts, like drama, dance and music. My dream is to
be an actor, so this school is perfect because you learn lots of
exciting things with teachers that are also actors, singers and
dancers.
Los Angeles High School is a very modern school. There is
a gymnasium with many dance rooms, a theatre for 1000 people,
an indoor basketball court, a library that is the shape of a cone, and a student’s room with lots
of lockers for 2000 students. But what I’m really crazy about is the outdoor swimming pool!
I’m also in two clubs, the robotics and recycling club. Some students in my class are more
interested in the chess, dance and gardening clubs. I’m not very good at that.
Los Angeles High School is the best school to bring out the artist in you!

Unit 3 We are family
Listening script
Exercise 1
Brian – I want to be a doctor, so in my favourite subject we learn about animal life and about the planet we live on.
Sometimes the teacher shows us videos about the ocean, exotic plants and the environment. I really love science! It’s
really exciting.
Jessica – I’m a very active person. I’m the sporty type. People think that only boys are crazy about sports and PE, but
that’s not true. I practise volleyball three times a week and I play in my local team. We are national champions. PE
really is my favourite subject.
Arthur – I like to learn about the great explorers in the past. History helps me to understand the present. My father
also teaches history and he tells me about really important and courageous people. My name is Arthur because of
the famous king Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Isn’t history cool?
Alana – I’m weak at art and music, but I’m great at numbers. I think it’s super easy to do sums. I love it when the
teacher gives us difficult maths exercises to solve. I’m always the first one to finish. Maths is my favourite subject!
Tom – I love drawing and painting. My favourite birthday and Christmas presents are painting kits. Sometimes, I give
some of the paintings I make to my family and friends. Art brings out the artist in me. I also like IT, so sometimes
I use my creativity in this subject too, but my favourite subject is art.
Exercise 2
I have lots of school friends in my class and I have some friends in other classes too. I hate waiting for them to
leave the classroom for our morning break, so I meet them in different places at school. Some of my friends are
interested in sports, so I meet them on the basketball court where they play basketball. After lunch, one of the
girls I like usually sits and relaxes outside. I sometimes sit next to her and we chat in the school garden. My friends
in 6B have lunch early, so I meet them in the canteen. After lunch I often meet other friends in the corridors. When
we don’t have classes in the afternoon, we go to the school entrance because our parents always pick us up
there.
