DISCREPÂNCIA REPORTADA:
Durante inspeção rotineira de manutenção foi observado que os indicadores de nivelamento de
Pitch e Roll usados para abastecimento por régua localizados na baía de trem de pouso estavam
quebrados. O Pitch e Roll inclinometer (veja figura abaixo) são usados quando o sistema de
indicação da quantidade de combustível no painel de instrumentos do piloto estiver inoperante. Não
foi encontrado a referencia para despacho da aeronave com os indicadores de Pitch e Roll quebrado
ou faltando.

Description

GOT Engineering department has received reports from maintenance staff about several aircrafts with ref /A/
broken, missing or damaged.
When the fuel quantity indicating system does not operate correctly, the refuel operation can be performed by
measuring sticks also the airplane pitch and roll must be know in addition to the fuel depth to find the fuel
quantity in each fuel tank.
Desired Action
======================
GOL would like to ask Boeing:
1 - Has Boeing some technical objection for dispatch airplane with ref /A/ broken, missing or damaged until it
can be replaced?
2 - Is plumb bob a method to get the roll and pitch attitude of aircraft for use to refuel operation?

GOT was wrong to ask Boeing provide a response on or before 04-July-2014. GOT would like to ask Boeing
anticipate a response until or before 02-July-2014 due a new event about Inclinometer Roll attitude broken
and consequently we are being asked about it. Sorry by mistake.

DESCRIPTION:
In reference /A/ message GOL Airlines (GOT) advised Boeing that their engineering department had received
reports from maintenance staff about several aircraft with broken, missing or damaged inclinometers. The
GOL Airlines (GOT) questions are repeated below followed by the Boeing responses:
1 - Has Boeing some technical objection for dispatch airplane with a broken, missing or damaged inclinometer
until it can be replaced?
2 - Is plumb bob a method to get the roll and pitch attitude of aircraft for use to refuel operation?
RESPONSE:
1. Boeing has no technical objections to limited operation with the broken/removed inclinometer until it can be
replaced during scheduled maintenance. If manual verification of fuel quantity using the measuring sticks is
required, GOL Airlines will need to use a plumb bob and/or the attitude gage to determine the roll and attitude
angle of the airplane as shown in AMM 08-21-02 and 08-21-03. If manual verification of fuel quantity is
required due to an inoperative fuel quantity indication per Dispatch Deviations Guide (DDG) 28-06 or 28-07,
an alternate procedure can be used as noted in the general section of AMM 12-11-00, Refuel Operation When
the Fuel Quantity Indicating System Does not Operate.
2. A plumb bob or attitude gage can be used instead of the inclinometer, so the "acceptable procedure"
referred to in the Dispatch Procedures Guide (DDG) item 28-06 and 28-07 for an inoperative fuel indication is
not affected by a damage inclinometer. See AMM 08-21-02 and 08-21-03 for details of how to use the plumb
bob and attitude gage.
Boeing recommends that GOL Airlines (GOT) contact the inclinometer supplier for a replacement; Rieker
Incorporated.
