eja bem-vindo ao WRC Vodafone Rally de Portugal,
que se disputa nas regiões do Norte e Centro do
País, entre 20 e 23 de maio.
Na sequência do sucesso de anos anteriores, a 54ª edição
do WRC Rally de Portugal será o evento desportivo
e turístico que mais contribuirá para o posicionamento
do País enquanto destino turístico e para a coesão do
território.
Com a base operacional na Exponor, em Matosinhos,
o Automóvel Club de Portugal volta a escolher Coimbra
como local de início da prova, com a tradicional
cerimónia de partida.
A imagem de Portugal no exterior é comprovadamente
um dos vetores de excelência do impacto do WRC
Rally de Portugal. Enquanto promotor do destino
turístico, o valor mediático gerado pela edição de 2019
da prova ultrapassou os 67,7 milhões de euros de
AEV - (Advertising Equivalent Value). Esta valorização
resulta da exposição internacional através da TV, Print,
Web-TV, online e social media da imagem do evento e das
regiões Norte e Centro nos vários canais internacionais,
com destaque para a exposição televisiva para mais de
150 países, nomeadamente França, Finlândia, Bélgica,
Espanha, Japão, Polónia, Suécia, Alemanha, República
Checa e Bulgária.
A par da cobertura integral da prova, a cargo do
promotor do WRC, a edição 2021 do Vodafone Rally
de Portugal tem já asseguradas seis transmissões
televisivas internacionais em direto durante os três
dias de competição.
O WRC Vodafone Rally de Portugal pontua em termos
internacionais para o Campeonato do Mundo de Ralis
com os carros Rally1 (ex-WRC), para o campeonato
WRC2 com os carros Rally2 (ex-R5) e ainda para o
regressado FIA Junior WRC em Rally4 (ex-R2). Conta
também para o Campeonato de Portugal de Ralis e para
a Peugeot Rally Cup Ibérica, com o Peugeot 208 Rally 4.

Uma palavra de agradecimento para o indispensável

quais não seria possível realizá-la: Guarda Nacional
Republicana, Polícia de Segurança Pública, Proteção
Civil e INEM.
O Comité Olímpico Internacional elegeu o Vodafone
Rally de Portugal de 2019 como o primeiro caso de
sucesso do Desporto Motorizado para a sustentabili-
dade ambiental. Através do seu programa de acreditação
ambiental, a FIA tem como objetivo reduzir o impacto
ambiental das provas do mundial de ralis, assim mais
uma vez, o Automóvel Club de Portugal elegeu
a política ambiental de preservação do ambiente no
Rali como uma das suas principais prioridades.
Por último, um tema fundamental para o sucesso da
nossa prova: a segurança. O enorme entusiasmo que
a rodeia deve ser uma imagem de marca do desporto
e do turismo. A FIA, o Promotor e o Automóvel Club
de Portugal estão também a trabalhar na formulação
das normas COVID, que serão publicadas assim que os
detalhes possam ser confirmados.

elcome to the 54th Vodafone Rally de Portugal,
which will take place from May 20th to 23rd, in
the northern and central regions of the country.
Following the success of previous years, the WRC
Rally de Portugal’s 54th edition will be the sports and
touristic event which will contribute the most to the
positioning of the country as tourist destination and to
the territory’s cohesion.
With headquarters at Exponor, in Matosinhos, the
Automóvel Club of Portugal choose, once again, Coimbra
as the starting point of the Rally, with the traditional
Ceremonial Start.
The image of Portugal abroad is clearly one of the
strongest impacts generated by the WRC Vodafone
Rally de Portugal. The promotion of the country as a
tourist destination during the edition of 2019, generated
a revenue in excess of 67.7 million euros of AEV -
(Advertising Equivalent Value). This value is the result
of the event international exposure in the northern and
central regions of Portugal through TV, Print, Web-TV,
online and social media image of the event to more than
150 countries, namely France, Finland, Belgium, Spain,
Japan, Poland, Sweden, Germany, Czech Republic and
Bulgaria.
Along with the full media coverage of the event, thru the
WRC Promoter, the 2021 Vodafone Rally de Portugal
has already assured six international live TV broadcasts
during the three days of competition.
The Vodafone Rally de Portugal is eligible for the World
Rally Championship with Rally1 cars (former WRC),
the WRC 2 with Rally2 (former R5 cars), and for the
returned Junior WRC with Rally4 (former R2). The event
is also included in the Portugal Rally Championship
calendar and the 2021 Peugeot Rally Cup Ibérica, with
the Peugeot 208 Rally 4.

A word of appreciation for the essential support of the
sponsors – Portugal Tourism, North and Porto Tourism
and Centre Tourism boards, as well as Vodafone, BP,
Hertz and KontraProduções - and a very special thank
you to the entities working for the safety of the event,
without whom it wouldn’t be possible to carry out the
Rally: GNR, Police, Civil Protection and INEM.
The International Olympic Committee has considered
the 2019 edition of Vodafone Rally de Portugal as the
first successful motorsports event for environmental
sustainability. Through its environmental accreditation
program, FIA aims to reduce the WRCs events
environmental impact. Automóvel Club de Portugal
has, once again, elected the environmental policy to be
one of its main priorities.
Last but not least, a very relevant theme for the
success of the Rally de Portugal: safety of the event,
and, as important safety of spectators. The enormous
enthusiasm that surrounds Rally de Portugal must
be a hallmark of national sport and tourism. FIA, the
promotor and Automóvel Club de Portugal are also
working on formulating COVID guidelines, which will be
published as soon as details can be confirmed.
Only with the commitment of all will the WRC Vodafone
Rally de Portugal be crowned with success.

O NORTE É LÁ EM CIMA

H
istoricamente palco das principais provas auto-
mobilísticas do país e da Europa, o Norte de
Portugal congratula-se com o regresso do Rally
de Portugal ao seu território depois do interregno
de 2020, quebrado que estava já o longo período de
décadas em que a prova mãe do desporto automóvel
esteve ausente dos caminhos da região, retomando em
2015 com todo o fulgor.
De facto, é com um enorme regozijo que o Turismo do
Porto e Norte de Portugal apoia esta edição de 2021,
partilhada entre o Porto e Norte e a Região Centro,
encarando-a como o primeiro grande evento do ano,
catalisador do turismo e assumindo-o como um bom
prenuncio para o verão, altura em que aguardamos
o regresso dos turistas nacionais e internacionais, espe-
rando que voltem em força ao Norte, reconhecendo-lhe
– além das inúmeras virtudes da sua oferta turística,
excecional e diversificada – a força da resiliência ao
enfrentar os longos meses de crise pandémica. A capa-
cidade do destino de se reinventar e dos seus atores
de se mobilizarem e adaptarem transmitem, segura-
mente, total confiança a quem procura o território para
lazer ou negócios.
Entre 20 e 23 de maio, os motores do WRC Rally de
Portugal vão se ouvir novamente na região. Partindo
do seu quartel-general em Matosinhos rumo às estra-
das serpenteantes dos nove concelhos, acelerando em
cenários inebriantes de horizontes amplos, sob céus
magnificentes, a roçar os cumes dos montes numa
mistura osmótica entre os tons de natureza e o grafismo
colorido dos carros a alta velocidade.
Entusiasmados com a possibilidade de voltar a abrir
as portas da região a todos os que seguem a prova, a
Turismo do Porto e Norte de Portugal e os nove
municípios conjugam esforços para que o staff, os
profissionais, as equipas, os pilotos, os media e, obvia-
mente, o público conheçam melhor a região, disfrutem
das suas paisagens, provem a sua gastronomia e os
seus vinhos, repousem nas suas unidades de alojamen-
to e, sobretudo, regressem em breve para vivenciarem,
com a maior tranquilidade, as mil experiências que
o Porto e Norte oferece em todas as estações do ano
no seu vasto território, aclamado por experts, influencers
e premiado com inúmeros galardões em áreas de
excelência do turismo internacional.
Certos da extrema importância que este grande
evento desportivo representa em termos de impacto
económico e de notoriedade turística para o território,
apelo a todos para que, com a sua presença, o 54º Rally

THE NORTH IS AT THE TOP

H
istorically the stage of the main automobile
events in the country and Europe, the North of
Portugal welcomes the return of the Rally of
Portugal to its territory after the interruption of 2020,
already fractured for a long period of decades in which
the mother-race of motor sport was absent from the
paths of the region, resuming in 2015 with all glamour.
In fact, it is with great rejoicement that Turismo do
Porto and Norte de Portugal supports this edition of
2021, shared between Porto and North and the Central
Region, looking at this as the first major event of the
year, catalyst of tourism and assuming it as a good
foreshadowing for the summer, when we await the
return of national and international tourists, hoping
that they will return in force to the North, recognizing
it – in addition to the countless virtues of its exceptional
and diversified tourism offer – the strength of resilience
when facing the long months of the crisis. The ability
of the destiny to reinvent itself and its performers to
mobilize and adapt, will surely convey total confidence
to those who seek the territory for leisure or business.
Between 20 and 23 May, the engines of the WRC Rally
of Portugal will be heard again in the region. Starting
from its headquarters in Matosinhos towards the
winding roads of the nine municipalities, accelerating
in intoxicating scenarios of wide horizons, under
magnificent skies, skim the summits of the hills in an
osmotic mixture between the tones of nature and the
colorful graphics of cars at high speed.
Enthusiastic about the possibility of reopening the
doors of the region to all who follow the race, Turismo
do Porto and Norte de Portugal and the nine muni-
cipalities combine efforts to ensure that the staff,
professionals, teams, the pilots, the media and, of
course, the public know the region better, appreciate its
landscapes, taste its gastronomy and its wines, rest in
its accommodation units and, above all, soon return to
the experience, with the greatest tranquility, the thousand
experiences that Porto and North offers in all seasons in
its vast territory, acclaimed by experts, influencers and
awarded with numerous prizes in areas of excellence of
international tourism.
Certain of the extreme importance that this great
sports event represents in terms of economic impact
and tourism notoriety for the territory, I appeal to all
that, with their presence, at the 54th Rally of Portugal is
even more memorable, contributing definitively to the
recovery of the region and the country in 2021!

s estradas do Centro de Portugal vão voltar a vi-
brar com a passagem do melhor rali do mundo!
Depois de um ano de interregno, motivado pela
pandemia, a região está preparada para acolher os par-
ticipantes da forma calorosa a que já os habituou.
Em 2019, ano que marcou o regresso da prova a este
território, o entusiasmo gerado ultrapassou todas
as previsões. A partida na Universidade de Coimbra
afirmou-se desde logo como um ex-libris do rali, a jun-
tar a outros cenários na região que fazem parte do
historial da prova, como Arganil ou a Lousã. O regresso
a estes troços emblemáticos, onde se vive de forma
fervorosa as emoções do desporto automóvel, atraiu
multidões às estradas, sempre com segurança.
Este ano será necessariamente diferente, devido aos
condicionalismos provocados pela pandemia. Mas
o prazer com que esta região vos recebe, esse man-
tém-se inalterado.

Once again the roads of the Center of Portugal are
going to vibrate with the best rally of the world! After
a year of interregnum motivated by the pandemic, the
region is prepared to warmly welcome the participants
as it used to do.
The rally was back in 2019 with a huge enthusiasm that
exceeded all expectations. The starting point at the
University of Coimbra immediately established itself
as an ex-libris of the rally, together with other amazing
places in the region also part of the race’s history, such
as Arganil or Lousã. The return to these emblematic
track sections where the emotions of motor sports are
enthusiastically lived, attracted crowds to the roads,
always safely.
This year will be different due to the constraints caused
by the pandemic. However, the pleasure with which this
region receives you, will remain unchanged.

POLÍTICA AMBIENTAL DO VODAFONE
RALLY DE PORTUGAL
No âmbito do Quadro de Certificação Ambiental FIA, o Automóvel Club de
Portugal, enquanto organizador do Vodafone Rally de Portugal, irá enveredar
todos os esforços para revalidar a acreditação Achievement of Excellence
para o Campeonato do Mundo de Ralis, em 2021.
É objetivo da organização continuar a melhorar o trabalho no sentido
de minimizar o impacte ambiental do evento, prosseguindo e alargando
a implementação de medidas em conformidade com o programa de sus-
tentabilidade da FIA.
Sendo uma das provas do WRC com mais espectadores, o Vodafone Rally de
Portugal procura constituir um exemplo em termos de política ambiental
quer a nível nacional quer em termos internacionais. Neste contexto,
a organização vai continuar o seu trabalho de parceria com o Ministério do
Ambiente, através da Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente, de forma a reduzir
os impactos ambientais causados pela prova. Assim, o Vodafone Rally de
Portugal irá, de forma consciente, levar a cabo todos os esforços para que
o impacto ambiental seja minimizado colocando em prática as seguintes
ações:
a) Respeitar todas as leis e regulações ambientais e outros requisitos,
bem como o Quadro de Certificação Ambiental da FIA.
b) Divulgar e promover o conhecimento ambiental junto dos diferen-
tes agentes (organização, pilotos e todas as equipas envolvidas,
e espectadores);
c) Levar em linha de conta o trabalho ambiental e o impacte ambien-
tal na escolha de parceiros e fornecedores e procurar produtos
e serviços que garantam um bom desempenho ambiental;
e) Reduzir, tanto quanto possível, o impacte ambiental no que res-
peita aos transportes, incentivando o Car Pooling e o Car Sharing,
bem como a utilização de transportes públicos ou outros;
f) Preferir, sempre que possível, fontes de energia renováveis;
g) Continuar a implementar medidas e estabelecer parcerias para
aumentar e melhorar a recolha seletiva do lixo, bem como a elimi-
nação correta e adequada do mesmo;
h) Fomentar e melhorar as nossas responsabilidades ambientais com
base em tarefas estruturadas e planeadas;
i) Envolver todas as autoridades locais das zonas de passagem do rali.
j) Continuar a reduzir ao máximo o número de documentos impressos
em papel, privilegiando a utilização e consulta de documentos em
formatos digitais;
k) Fomentar a redução do uso de plástico e de produtos descartáveis,
dando preferência a produtos recicláveis e reutilizáveis;
l) Fomentar o uso de água da rede pública, que em Portugal é de
elevada qualidade.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Within the FIA Environmental Certification Framework, Automóvel Club de
Portugal, as organiser of Vodafone Rally de Portugal, will make every effort
to revalidate the Achievement of Excellence accreditation for the World Rally
Championship in 2021.
It is the organisation’s aim to continue to improve work to minimize
the environmental impact of the event by continuing and extending the
implementation of measures in accordance with the FIA’s sustainability
program.
As one of the WRC events with more spectators, Vodafone Rally de Portugal
seeks to set an example in terms of environmental policy both nationally
and internationally. In this context, the organisation will continue its work in
partnership with the Ministry of the Environment, through the Portuguese
Environment Agency, to reduce the environmental impacts caused by the
event. Thus, Vodafone Rally of Portugal will consciously make every effort
to minimize the environmental impact by putting into practice the following
actions:
a) Respect all environmental laws and regulations and other
requirements, as well as the FIA Environmental Certification
Framework.
b) Disseminate and promote environmental awareness among the
different agents (organisation, drivers and all teams involved, and
spectators);
c) Consider environmental work and environmental impact in choosing
partners and suppliers and look for products and services that
guarantee a good environmental performance;
e) Reduce, as far as possible, the environmental impact regarding
transport by encouraging Car Pooling and Car Sharing as well as
the use of public or other transport;
f) Prefer, whenever possible, renewable energy sources;
g) Continue to implement measures and establish partnerships to in-
crease and improve the selective collection of waste as well as the
correct and appropriate disposal of waste;

O MELHOR RALI DO MUNDO
ESTÁ DE VOLTA
A
quele que já recebeu, por diversas vezes,
o estatuto de melhor rali do mundo está de
regresso entre os dias 20 e 23 de maio. A prova
organizada pelo Automóvel Club de Portugal pontua
para o Campeonato do Mundo de Ralis e recebe a elite
mundial da modalidade.
Portugal prepara-se para reunir os melhores pilotos do
Mundo de ralis. O acontecimento está marcado para
o período entre os dias 20 e 23 de maio. O entusiasmo
em torno do regresso do WRC é enorme. Os carros
mais rápidos, pilotados com mestria por nomes como
o do heptacampeão mundial, Sébastien Ogier, ou do
seu maior rival, e campeão em 2019, Ott Tanäk, vão per-
correr alguns dos troços mais exigentes e desafiantes
do mundo dos ralis.
À semelhança do que aconteceu desde que o Vodafone
Rally de Portugal regressou ao Norte do País, a Exponor,
em Matosinhos, volta a ser o centro operacional de toda
a prova. Será aí que as estruturas participantes se vão
estabelecer durante uma semana.
Será, também, a partir deste centro, onde o Automóvel
Club de Portugal terá o seu quartel-general, que os
concorrentes sairão para percorrer classificativas que
constituem esta edição da quarta ronda pontuável
para o WRC.
Depois de um ano em que, devido à pandemia de
Covid-19, o Vodafone Rally de Portugal não se realizou,
o que aconteceu pela primeira vez desde que a com-
petição se tornou uma realidade, em 1967, o País volta
a ter os melhores do mundo. Para que tudo corra pelo
melhor, o Automóvel Club de Portugal desenvolveu
um rigoroso plano, em estreita cooperação com as
autoridades de saúde. Este trabalho, que durou vários
meses e exigiu a mobilização de vários recursos, con-

tribuiu para que a edição de 2021 do Vodafone Rally de
Portugal fosse mesmo um realidade.
A prova começa na sexta-feira, dia 21 de maio, mas
a ação arranca na véspera. Será na quinta-feira que
os pilotos participam no Shakedown, em Paredes, para
verificar que está tudo pronto. Nesse mesmo dia, a cara-
vana ruma a Coimbra que será, mais uma vez, o palco
para a Cerimónia de Partida oficial.
Cumprido o protocolo,a competição inicia-se nos troços
do Centro do País. Lousã, Góis e Arganil voltam a sentir
a vibração dos rápidos carros de ralis, enquanto Mor-
tágua volta a receber a elite mundial duas décadas
depois. A fechar, Lousada fecha com a realização da
super-especial que terá direito a transmissão em direto.
Os carros pernoitam na Exponor e, no sábado, o palco
competitivo centra-se mais a Norte. Vieira do Minho,
Cabeceiras de Basto e Amarante são os desafios do dia
que termina com uma super-especial inédita. A organi-
zação desenhou uma classificativa espetáculo na zona
da Foz, no Porto. São 3,3 km em asfalto que vão, por
certo, exigir muito de carros e pilotos, num teste que
será transmitido em direto nas mais variadas platafor-
mas. O Vodafone Rally de Portugal termina com um
clássico e um regresso mais de 20 anos depois. Felgueiras
volta a integrar o programa do Rally, com duas passa-
gens, numa etapa onde, além da incursão por Montim,
os pilotos têm pela frente o incontornável troço de Fafe,
com transmissão ao vivo na televisão e com a segunda
passagem a fechar a competição com a realização da
Wolf Power Stage.
O Vodafone Rally de Portugal pontua para o Campe-
onato do Mundo de Ralis e para todos os campeonatos
de suporte, como são o WRC2, o WRC3 e o JWRC. Além
disso, é, também, uma prova pontuável para o Campe-
onato de Portugal de Ralis e da Peugeot Rally Cup Ibérica.

he one which has received several times the
status of best rally in the world is back between
the 20th and the 23rd May. The race organized
by the Automobile Club of Portugal scores for the
World Rally Championship and receives the world
elite of this sport.
Portugal is preparing to bring together the world’s
best rally riders. The event is scheduled for the period
between 20 and 23 May. The enthusiasm surrounding
the return of the WRC is enormous. The fastest cars,
driven with mastery by names such as world champion
Sébastien Ogier or his biggest rival, and 2019 champion
Ott Tanäk, will go through some of the world’s most
demanding and challenging stretches of rallying.
As has happened since Vodafone rally in Portugal returned
to the north of the country, Exponor, in Matosinhos, is again
the operational centre of the entire race. That is where the
participating structures will be established for a week. It
will also be from this centre, where the Automobile Club of
Portugal will have its headquarters, that competitors will
depart to go through qualifiers that constitute this edition
of the fourth WRC round.
After a year in which, due to the covid-19 pandemic,
the Vodafone Rally of Portugal did not take place, which
happened for the first time since the competition
became a reality in 1967, the country returns to have
the best in the world. So as to have everything going for
the best, the Automobile Club of Portugal has developed
a rigorous plan, in close cooperation with the health
authorities. This work, which has lasted for several months
and required the mobilization of several resources, has
contributed for the 2021 edition of Vodafone Rally de
Portugal to even become a reality.

WORLD IS BACK
Competition begins on Friday, May 21, but action starts
the day before. It will be on Thursday that the riders
take part in the Shakedown in Paredes to check that
everything is ready. That same day, the caravan will go
to Coimbra which will once again be the stage for the
official Cerimonial Ceremony.
Once the protocol is complied with, the competition
begins in the sections of the Centre of the Country.
Lousã, Góis and Arganil again feel the vibration of the
fast rally cars, while Mortágua returns to welcome the
world elite two decades later. Finally, Lousada closes with
the realization of the super-special that will be entitled
to live transmission. The cars stay overnight at Exponor
and on Saturday, the competitive stage focuses further
north. Vieira do Minho, Cabeceiras de Basto and
Amarante are the challenges of the day that ends with
an unprecedented super special. The organization has
designed a qualifying show in the Foz area of Porto.
There are 3.3 km of asphalt that will certainly require
a lot from cars and drivers, in a test that will be broadcast
live on the most varied platforms. The Vodafone Rally of
Portugal ends with a classic and a return more than 20
years later. Felgueiras is again part of the Rally program,
with two passages, in a stage where, in addition to the
foray by Montim, riders face the inescapable section
of Fafe, with live broadcast on television and with the
second passage closing the competition with the realiza-
tion of the Wolf Power Stage.

ealizados três ralis na temporada de 2021,
o campeão do mundo, Sébastien Ogier (Toyota)
chega a Portugal na liderança do Campeonato
do Mundo de Ralis. Mas mais do que ampliar a van-
tagem para a concorrência, o piloto francês procura
consolidar um recorde que já é seu, ex aequo com
Marku Alen. Se vencer, passa a ter seis vitórias na
ronda organizada pelo Automóvel Club de Portugal.
Resta saber se a concorrência lhe vai fazer a vontade.
O francês que já venceu a prova do ACP em cinco
ocasiões (duas vezes com a Citroën, duas vezes com
a Volkswagen e uma com a Ford) procura o sexto triunfo.
Se o conseguir, alcança outra proeza: ganha com outro
construtor, a Toyota.
O Vodafone Rally de Portugal é, por certo, especial
para o campeão do Mundo, mas não só. Há outros três
pilotos que já venceram a ronda lusa do WRC. Dois
correm com os Hyundai i20 WRC e um deles, Ott Tänak,
é o único piloto com um título mundial no ativo, além
de Ogier. O terceiro piloto que já venceu em Portugal
é Mads Østberg e apresenta-se ao volante de um
Citroën C3 Rally2.

Nas contas do campeonato, Ogier lidera com 61 pontos,
mais nove do que o segundo classificado, Thierry
Neuville. Quem quer, certamente, recuperar do Rali da
Croácia, prova em que perdeu a vitória no último troço,
é Elfyn Evans. O britânico da Toyota é terceiro no
Mundial, com 51 pontos e quer manter a competiti-
vidade já evidenciada em asfalto, nas classificativas de
terra do Centro e do Norte de Portugal. À procura dos
pontos perdidos está Ott Tänak. O estónio é o único que
já venceu em 2021 para além de Ogier, mas desistiu em
Monte Carlo e, por isso, ocupa o quarto posto, a 21
pontos do líder.
O campeonato tem sido dominado pela Toyota e pela
Hyundai, marcas que ocupam os primeiros sete lugares
do WRC. A Ford tem Adrien Fourmaux e Gus Greensmith
em oitavo e nono, respetivamente, mas procura
manter o ascendente evidenciado na Croácia, rali em
que a M-Sport obteve os melhores resultados da época
até ao momento.

ith three rallies held in the 2021 season, the
World Champion Sébastien Ogier (Toyota)
arrives in Portugal at the top of the World
Rally Championship. But more than extending his
advantage in relation to his rivals, the French driver
seeks to consolidate a record that is already his, ex
aequo with Marku Alen. If he wins, he will have six
victories in the Automóvel Club de Portugal rally. It
remains to be seen if his rivals will allow it.
The Frenchman, who has won the ACP rally on five
occasions (twice with Citroën, twice with Volkswagen
and once with Ford) is looking for his sixth win. If he does
it, he will achieve another feat: winning with another
manufacturer, Toyota.
The Vodafone Rally de Portugal is certainly special
for the World Champion. However, there are three
other drivers who have already won the WRC event.
Two compete with the Hyundai i20 WRC and one of
them, Ott Tänak, is the only other active driver with a
World Title to his name, besides Ogier. The third driver
to have won in Portugal is Mads Østberg, who will be
behind the wheel of a Citroën C3 Rally2.

In the championship scoring table, Ogier leads with 61
points, nine more than the runner-up, Thierry Neuville.
A driver who will certainly be trying to recover from the
Croatia Rally, event in which he lost the victory in the
last section, is Elfyn Evans. The British Toyota driver is
third in the World Championship, with 51 points and
wants to continue to maintain the pace he has already
shown on asphalt, this time in the gravel tests of Central
and Northern Portugal. Trying to make up for the points
lost earlier in the year is Ott Tänak. The Estonian driver
is the only one beside Ogier to have won a Rally this year
but he dropped, making him fourth, 21 points behind
the leader.
The championship has been dominated by Toyota and
Hyundai, manufacturers which dominate the WRC top 7.
Ford has Adrien Fourmaux and Gus Greensmith in
eighth and seventh place, respectively, but the make
will try to maintain the more competitive pace shown in
Croatia, a rally in which M-Sport has achieved the best
results of the season so far.

outros tantos vencedores. Andreas Mikkelsen,
que ganhou em Monte Carlo, chega a Portugal como
líder da segunda divisão do Campeonato do Mundo
de Ralis com 68 pontos. O norueguês do Skoda Fabia
R5 tem sido o mais consistente no início de temporada
e será, certamente, um dos candidatos ao triunfo no
Vodafone Rally de Portugal.
A Toksport WRT coloca os seus dois pilotos nos dois
primeiros lugares da classificação do WRC2. Marco
Bulacia ainda não ganhou, mas os bons resultados em
Monte Carlo e na Croácia, deixam-no bem colocado
para discutir os lugares cimeiros da categoria na ronda
do Automóvel Club de Portugal.
Além desta dupla, a categoria conta com vários pilotos
com potencialidades para vencer. Um deles é Mads
Ostberg. Depois de muitos anos no WRC, sagrou-se
campeão do WRC2 em 2020 e é, dos um dos quatro
pilotos na lista de inscritos geral que ganhou esta prova
em termos absolutos. Ao volante de um Citroën C3,

Ostberg venceu o Rali da Croácia, única prova em que
competiu neste ano, e assume-se como um dos favoritos
a vencer o Vodafone Rally de Portugal. Também do norte
da Europa chega Esapekka Lappi. Com um Volkswagen
Polo R5, o finlandês também está no lote dos potenci-
ais vencedores, enquanto o seu companheiro, Nikolay
Gryazin, procura maior consistência. Na única ronda do ano
que concluiu, fechou em terceiro e mostrou capacidades
para também entrar na luta pelo pódio em Portugal.
A M-Sport inscreve Teemu Suninen, Martin Prokop e Tom
Kristensson com a esperança de alcançar o primeiro
triunfo na categoria em 2021. O mesmo acontece com
a Hyundai. Além de Ole Christian Veiby, a marca
sul-coreana inscrever Oliver Solberg, o filho do antigo
campeão do mundo de ralis, Petter Solberg. O jovem
norueguês estreou-se no Rali do Ártico com um WRC
e terminou em sétimo na elite do Mundial. Agora centra
as atenções com a participação ao volante de um i20 R5.
Nota, ainda, para Eric Camilli. O francês volta a Portugal
ao volante de um Citroën C3 R5 preparado pela estrutura
portuguesa, Sports & You.

ierce competition is taking place at the WRC2
championship in 2021 with three winners in as
many rallies held so far. Andreas Mikkelsen, who
won in Monte Carlo, arrives in Portugal as the second
division leader of the World Rally Championship with
68 points. The Skoda Fabia R5 Norwegian driver has
been the most consistent since the start of the season
and will certainly be one of the candidates for the
victory at the Vodafone Rally de Portugal.
The Toksport WRT has its two drivers in the top two
places in the WRC2 standings. Marco Bulacia has not
won yet, but his good results in Monte Carlo and Croatia
leave him well placed to discuss the top places in the
category in the Automóvel Club de Portugal’s event.
Adding to the duo, there are several competitors with
potential to win. One of them is Mads Østberg. After
many years in the WRC class, he won the WRC2 in 2020
and is one of four drivers on the overall shortlist who
has won the Rally de Portugal overall. At the wheel of
a Citroën C3, Østberg won the Croatia Rally, the only
event he has taken part in this year, and is one of the
favourites to win the Vodafone Rally de Portugal amongst
the WRC2 entry list. Also from northern Europe comes
Esapekka Lappi. With a Volkswagen Polo R5. The Finn is
also in the batch of potential winners, while his teammate
Nikolay Gryazin is looking for greater consistency. In the
only round of the year he has concluded, he closed in
third and showed ability to also enter the fight for the
podium in Portugal.

DOMINADA POR FRANCESES

WRC3, campeonato do mundo de ralis para
pilotos privados que compitam com carros da
categoria R5, está a ser dominado por pilotos
de França. Yohan Rossel e Nicolas Ciamin, ambos em
Citroën C3 R5, são primeiro e segundo na classificação
após os primeiros ralis do ano, respetivamente. Rossel
já venceu em Monte-Carlo e fez terceiro na Croácia.
O gaulês aposta em novo pódio no Vodafone Rally
de Portugal e isso coloca-o como um dos potenciais
vencedores. O piloto já competiu na ronda lusa, em
2017, ano em que fechou num modesto 16º posto no
WRC2. Contudo, o seu percurso tem sido crescente
e é com naturalidade que nesta edição é um candidato
ao triunfo. Ciamin não tem resultados tão visíveis em
2021 mas, depois de um terceiro e um quarto lugares
em provas de asfalto, certamente quererá mostrar que
também consegue andar depressa em ralis de terra.
Kajetan Kajetanowicz, em Skoda Fabia R5, também
vai correr em Portugal e quer mostrar o bom ritmo

Nesta categoria, a presença lusa é grande e forte. Os
pilotos portugueses têm, aliás, grandes possibilidades
de entrarem na luta pela vitória, apesar de estarem
mais focados nas contas do Campeonato de Portugal
de Ralis. Logo à cabeça, destaque para a participação do
campeão em título, Armindo Araújo. Ricardo Teodósio,
campeão em 2019, também respondeu presente. Aos
dois pilotos que correm de Skoda Fabia R5 juntam-se
Bruno Magalhães (Hyundai i20 R5), José Pedro Fontes
(Citroën C3 R5), Pedro Meireles (Volkswagen Polo R5)
e Bernardo Sousa (Skoda Fabia R5), todos eles com
títulos nacionais no palmarés. Destaque, ainda, para a
participação de Jan Solans, vencedor da Peugeot Rally
Cup Ibérica que este ano se apresenta com um Citroën
C3 R5, e do treinador de futebol, André Villas-Boas,
também em Citroën, que vai competir por uma causa
solidária.

RC3, the world rally championship for private
drivers who compete with R5-class cars, is
being dominated by drivers from France.
Yohan Rossel and Nicolas Ciamin, both in Citroën C3 R5,
are first and second, respectively, in the standings after
the first rallies of the year. Rossel has already won in
Monte-Carlo and finished third in Croatia. The Frenchman
is betting on a new podium at the Vodafone Rally in
Portugal and this places him as one of the potential
winners. The driver has competed in the Portuguese
round in 2017, when he closed in a modest 16th place in
WRC2. However, his performance has been improving
and it is only natural that in this edition he is a candidate
for triumph. Ciamin does not have such visible results
in 2021 but, after a third and a fourth place in asphalt
tests, he will certainly want to show that he can also drive
quickly in land rallies.

In this category, the Portuguese presence is large and
strong. Portuguese drivers have, in fact, great chances to
enter the fight for victory, despite being more focused on
their performances for the Campeonato de Portugal de
Rallies. Firstly, the participation of the champion in this
title, Armindo Araújo, should be highlighted. Ricardo Te-
odósio, champion in 2019, is once more present this time.
The two drivers who race for Skoda Fabia R5 are joined
by Bruno Magalhães (Hyundai i20 R5), José Pedro Fontes

odafone Rally de Portugal is the second race for
the Portuguese Rally Championship in 2021.
After the start of the season for drivers in this
competition on the first weekend of May, the Portuguese
teams enter the new round on dirt roads and there is
a handful of drivers with aspirations for victory.
Ricardo Teodósio is the championship leader after winning
the first race of the year. The driver of The Skoda Fabia
R5 is one of the candidates for victory among those who
run the Campeonato de Portugal de Rallies, but has in
Armindo Araújo, current champion and second place,
one of the main rivals in the quest for victory. The driver
of Santo Tirso presents himself, at the beginning of the
Vodafone Rally of Portugal, with a car that is equal to
that of Theodosius and also seeks to revive the years in
which he competed regularly in the World Championship.
Notice should be made to the fact that Araújo has
among his achievements two world titles of Grupo N.
Miguel Correia, also in Skoda, has grown a lot as a driver in
