Abstract: Since the decade of 1960, studies abut women have increased and
their histories, that have been largely ignored by historians until then, are being
investigated. Nowadays, the stories of the female figure and gender issues are
thematically contemplated in academia. However, what is being debated by
academic circles does not hit the society in general, neither the schools. To
understand how these topics are being addressed in the classroom, the present
research analyzes five textbooks of History destined to basic teaching level,
that appear in the list of the fourteen approved collections of PNLD 2017.
The texts discuss about women in various societies of Antiquity. This study
was carried out from the perspectives of the multicultural post-structuralist
curriculum and gender issues.
