JUSTIFICATIVA
O tratamento cirúrgico da LCCG pode apresentar como
desvantagens deformidades estruturais e funcionais dos
maxilares, perda de dentes e, muitas vezes necessitar de
internação hospitalar para realização do procedimento sob
anestesia geral. Na busca de alternativas não cirúrgicas e
não invasivas, surgiu a calcitonina como uma opção de
tratamento para LCCG devido ao fato desta inibir a atividade
de células gigantes sem gerar defeitos funcionais e
estruturais.

OBJETIVOS
OBJETIVOS GERAIS

O objetivo presente trabalho é investigar quais as evidências científicas disponíveis

na literatura para uso da calcitonina no tratamento de lesão central de células gigantes.

OBJETIVOS ESPECÍFICOS
• Evidenciar as características da LCCG;

• Descrever a ação da calcitonina na LCCG;

• Buscar as possíveis indicações e contraindicações, benefícios e limitações do uso da

calcitonina para o tratamento de LCCG;

• Investigar o índice de sucesso clínico alcançado pelo uso da calcitonina no tratamento

de LCCG.

METODOLOGIA
Revisão integrativa da literatura
Análise e síntese de múltiplos estudos publicados, independente
do delineamento do estudo, referentes a um determinado
assunto.

Identificação de lacunas que precisam ser preenchidas com a

realização de novas pesquisas e de conclusões gerais a respeito
de uma área de estudo particular, com consequente
incorporação da melhor e mais recente evidência na tomada de
decisão e melhoria da prática clínica.
