GRAU COMPARATIVO:
1. As ... as (tão ... quanto) é usado em frases afirmativas e not so ... as ou not
as ... as (não tão ... quanto), em frases negativas. Veja os exemplos abaixo:
John is as fat as his wife.
Joã o é tão gordo quanto sua esposa.
Alexander is not as fat as his father.
Alexandre não é tão gordo quanto seu pai.
Cristina is not so tall as her sister.
Cristina não é tão alta quanto sua irmã .
2. More ... than (mais ... do que) e less ... than (menos ... do que) sã o usados para fazer
o comparativo de adjetivos com mais de uma sílaba. Observe os exemplos abaixo:
Julia is more beautiful than Roberta.
Julia é mais bonita do que Roberta.
Golf is a sport less popular than soccer.
Golfe é um esporte menos popular do que o futebol.
GRAU SUPERLATIVO:
1. The most... (o/a mais ...) e the least ... (o/a menos ...) também sã o
usados para fazer o superlativo de adjetivos com mais de uma
sílaba. Veja os exemplos abaixo:
Julia is the most intelligent girl of my classroom.
Julia é a menina mais inteligente da minha sala de aula.
OBSERVAÇÕES:
1. Os Adjetivos terminados em y precedido de consoante trocam o y por i ao
receber -er e -est, como consta na tabela já apresentada. Veja outros exemplos
abaixo:
- happy:
- late:
She is happy.
Ela esta/é feliz.
She is happier than her sister.
Ela é/está mais feliz do que sua irmã .
She is the happiest girl I know.
Ela é a menina mais feliz que eu conheço.
2. Os Adjetivos terminados em e, perdem o e para receberem -er ou -est:
- late :
Today the flights are later than yesterday. (Grau Comparativo)
Hoje os vôos estão mais atrasados do que ontem.
This is the latest plane I have ever taken. (Grau Superlativo)
Este é o avião mais atrasado que já peguei.
3. Dobra-se a consoante final dos adjetivos quando forem precedidas por
uma vogal tônica e acrescentam-se as terminações -er e -est,
respectivamente:
Grau Normal: hot, big, slim, thin, sad.
Grau Comparativo: hotter (than), bigger (than), slimmer (than), thinner (than)
Grau Superlativo: (the) hottest, (the) biggest, (the) slimmest, (the) thinnest.

Parents: father and - bisavó Father-in-law - sogro
mother / Pais: Pai e Great Granpaents Mother-in-law – sogra
mãe. - bisavós Parents-in-law - sogros
Child – criança Uncle – tio Son-in-law – genro
Children – crianças Aunt – tia Daughter-in-law - nora
Son – filho Cousin - primo cunhado
Daughter – filha Nephew - sobrinho Sister-in-law - cunhada
Brother – irmão Niece - sobrinha Brother-in-law -
Sister - irmã Boyfriend - namorado Godfather – padrinho
Grandfather - avô Girlfriend – namorada Godmother - madrinha
Grandmother – avó Fiancé - noivo Godson - afilhado

PREPOSITIONS
SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
O Simple Present Tense corresponde ao presente do indicativo no português.
Ele é usado para basicamente para descrever ações rotineiras, cotidianas (com uma
certa frequência).
She getts up early twice a week. (Ela acorda cedo duas vezes na semana)
1) "S" é a regra geral. Deve ser acrescida aos verbos que não se enquadrarem nas regras
02 e 03.
ATENÇÃO!
Para a regra 03, apenas verbos terminados em consoante + y. Verbos
terminados em "vogal + y", devem seguir a regra geral:
1. Forma Negativa:
I/YOU/WE/YOU/THEY + DO NOT + VERBO NO INFINITIVO SEM TO
HE/SHE/IT + DOES NOT + VERBO NO INFINITIVO SEM TO
FORMAS ABREVIADAS: do not - don't / does not - doesn't. Ambas as formas
sã o corretas e bastante comuns na Língua Inglesa.
A more polite way to ask for the time, especially from a stranger is:
• Could you tell me the time please?
The common question forms we use to ask at what time a specific event will
happen are:
• What time...?
• When...?
• What time does the flight to New York leave?
• When does the bus arrive from London?
• When does the concert begin?
ADVERBS -PERSONALITY TRAITS
PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
O Presente Contínuo descreve uma ação que está ocorrendo agora, neste momento, ou
que está acabando de acontecer.
USOS:
1. Ações que ocorrem no momento da fala. A ação tem início antes do momento da
fala, continua no momento em que se fala e, provavelmente, continuará depois do
momento da fala:
My mother is sweeping the house. (Minha mãe está varrendo a casa.)
2. Expressa uma ação presente, que pode ou não estar ocorrendo no momento em
que se fala:
I'm reading a very interesting book. (Estou lendo um livro muito interessante.)
Is your father working at GM? (O seu pai está trabalhando na GM?)
FORMAÇÃO:
FORMA AFIRMATIVA: SUJEITO + PRESENTE SIMPLES DO VERBO TO BE +
GERÚNDIO (-ING) DO VERBO PRINCIPAL
1. Forma Afirmativa:
They are playing volleyball.
(Eles estão jogando vôlei.)
FORMA NEGATIVA: SUJEITO + PRESENTE SIMPLES DO VERBO TO BE + NOT + GERÚNDIO DO
VERBO PRINCIPAL
2. Forma Negativa:
I'm not asking help. (Não estou pedindo ajuda.)
3. Forma Interrogativa:
Am I being inopportune? (Estou sendo inoportuno?)
Is she having dinner? (Ela está jantando?)
