relacionem os conceitos à realidade do aluno, conferem significado e importância ao
assunto apresentado, estimulando a curiosidade e despertando o senso crítico.
ABSTRACT
This article aims at reporting a pedagogic experience involving students from the 4th to the
6th periods of the Teacher Training Course in Biological Sciences at the Centro de Ensino
Superior de Uberaba – CESUBE. The mini-course in Botanics was developed and given to
students of High School in Public State Schools in Uberaba – MG, by means of theoretical
and practical classes in which histological cuts were made of vegetal organs, fruit, seeds
and parts of flowers. The presentation of the material in vivo was used for recognition and
classification of the vegetal species. The activity had the following purposes: discuss the
morphological and anatomical organization of plants ant the respective origins and
functions of their organs and structures; offer opportunity for the students of teacher
training courses to become involved in the teaching practice which is necessary in the
profession; offer the high school students opportunities for linking their scientific
knowledge with their daily life; allow for the development of abilities and competence by
means of manipulation of the material under study, as well as acquire the power to use
scientific language through the process of handling, identification and classification of
species. The results showed that the adoption of a pedagogic activities, accompanied by
practical procedures that allow for finding the relations between concepts and the students’
reality, conveys significance and importance to the subject presented, stimulating curiosity
and awakening a critical sense.
