§20 Segue como são feitas as datas em inglês, mas para tanto, é preciso aprender os numerais.

1- Em inglês, os dias são dados em números ordinais, e o formato (dia/mês/ano ou mês/dia/ano)

varia conforme a região. O ideal é aprender ambos já que nosso objetivo aqui é ampliar o
conhecimento na leitura.

Datas no inglês americano

03/15/1982

Como se escreve por extenso: March 15th, 1982.

Como se fala: March fifteenth, nineteen eighty-two.

Datas no inglês britânico

15/03/1982

Como se escreve por extenso: 15th March 1982.

Como se fala: The fifteenth of March, nineteen eighty-two.
O inglês britânico segue um formato que se assemelha ao utilizado no português. 1

Observação: perceba o th depois do 15. Ele existe para indicar que o número é ordinal, como no
português 15°. A seguir temos as abrevições de todos os numerais, que vêm da terminação.
