Abstract: This technical article presents the development of a didactic equipment for
teaching photovoltaic energy generation and monitoring, named EDEF. The equipment aims
to simulate a photovoltaic system, providing simulations of real weather conditions, such as
the movement of the sun and oscillations in solar radiation on the photovoltaic panels. The
EDEF enables students who have only nighttime availability for studying to understand, in a
practical way, how a photovoltaic energy generation system works. The methodology
applied was the physical construction of the equipment, which started with the mechanical
structure, designed for robustness and divided into two modules, one for accommodating
special lamps and another for a commercial solar panel. The automation was built based on
C programming, using an Arduino and an ESP module to enable motor control. The
automation allowed for the verification of the effectiveness of a tracker system, where,
regardless of the angle of the lamp bank module, the output voltage of the solar panel has
low variation. Future plans include the implementation of a (PI) control for voltage output
modulation, using a forced lighting bank, and the synchronization of the DC/AC converter
output with the utility grid. Finally, to make monitoring more practical for students, banana
plug outputs are being implemented in the didactic system.
