Exercise 1
Hi! I’m James and I live in a semi-detached house in a nice quiet neighbourhood. It’s not a new house, but it has everything my family and I need.
Oh, and we also have two dogs. There are two floors and an attic in our house. The bedrooms and bathrooms are upstairs. Then, there’s the living
room, dining room and kitchen downstairs. We changed the kitchen a few months ago. And we have a smart dishwasher, fridge and oven. Isn’t that
cool? I guess you could say that my family and I all worry about the environment. We also have a big backyard where our dogs can play and have
fun. As you see, our house isn’t luxurious, but it certainly is very comfortable.
Exercise 2
Matt Cruise: Good afternoon, Mrs Dorothy. I’m Matt Cruise. We arranged a visit to an eco-friendly flat here in the city centre. Am I correct?
Mrs Dorothy: Good afternoon. That’s right. I’m really excited! I can’t wait to move to the city.
Matt Cruise: Okay, so let me just check if it’s the perfect flat for you.
Mrs Dorothy: Well, it’s in the city centre which is a good start. How big is the kitchen?
Matt Cruise: It’s very spacious. There’s room for a table for four people.
Mrs Dorothy: Are these appliances brand new?
Matt Cruise: Yes. In fact, they are!
Mrs Dorothy: That’s wonderful! And how about the bedrooms?
Matt Cruise: There are two smaller bedrooms and the master bedroom. The master bedroom is very cosy. It is the only one that has an en suite
bathroom.
Mrs Dorothy: That’s fine for me.
Matt Cruise: Let me tell you about the living room. There’s a big window with a great view. There’s also a nice fireplace.
Mrs Dorothy: Oh, I love fireplaces… And the dining room? The dining room is very important. You see, my parents always come over for Sunday
lunch.
Matt Cruise: Yes, the dining room is, in fact, big and modern. It even has a door to the kitchen.
Mrs Dorothy: Great! This is just what I was looking for. It’s the perfect flat for me!
Matt Cruise: Shall we confirm the visit, then?
Mrs Dorothy: Oh yes, please see if you can do that as soon as possible!
