RESUMO
ABSTRACT
The present work aims to show which pathological changes appear in platelets
and coagulation by the infection caused by the disease COVID-19. The
methods used to develop the manuscript were articles from the PUBMED
database, published between 2019 and 2021. The results showed that high D-
dimer, fibrinogen, prothrombin and thrombin time, fibrin degradation, high IL-6
and thrombocytopenia (platelet drop) are the main pathological changes linked
to platelets and clotting, reaching the following conclusion: Studies prove that
COVID-19 impacts the hematopoietic system, hemostasis and clotting and
reinforces the need for more studies to better understand these impacts.
