a) So (então, por isso): You know I am paying attention to the teacher, so stop
talking to me! (Você sabe que estou prestando atenção no professor, então, pare
de falar comigo!) – “So” é uma conjunção conclusiva, ou seja, é usada para
indicar a conclusão de uma ideia.
b) And (e): She visited Los Angeles and New York. (Ela visitou Los Angeles e
Nova York.) – “And” é conjução adiconal, ou seja, ela adiciona informações.
c) But (mas, porém, conduto, todavia): I would like to travel, but I have no
money. (Eu gostaria de viajar, mas não tenho dinheiro nenhum). – “But” é
conjunção adversativa, ou seja, indica ideias opostas.
d) Untill (até, até que): You can stay on the bus until London. (Você pode ficar no
ônibus até chegar a Londres.) – “Untill” é uma conjunção temporal, ou seja,
usada para indicar uma ação/evento a certo ponto no tempo.
e) Because (porque): They are studying because they will have an important exam
tomorrow. (Eles estão estudando porque terão uma prova importante amanhã). –
“Because” é uma conjunção explicativa, ou seja, ela é usada para explicar algo.
a) A (um, uma): usado antes das palavras no singular e que são iniciadas com som
de consoantes (b,c,d,f,g,h,j,k,l,m,n,p,q,r,s,t,v,x,z).
b) An (um, uma): usado antes das palavras no singular e que são iniciadas com
som de vogal (a,e,i,o,u).
There is some coffee in the cup. (Há um pouco de café na xícara). – Café é
incontável.
My father bought some books for me. (Meu pai comprou alguns livros para
mim). – Livros é contável.
There is some water in the glass. (Há um pouco de água no copo). – Água é
incontável.
d) Any (algum, alguns, alguma, algumas, nenhum, nenhuma): usado antes das
palavras no plural ou incontáveis (quantidade indefinida), nas frases negativas e
interrogativas.
Exemplos: Are there any chocolates left? (Ainda sobrou algum chocolate?). –
Chocolate é contável.
Is there any piece of cheese left in the fridge? (Ainda há algum pedaço de queijo
na geladeira?). – Queijo é incontável.
There aren’t any kids in the classroom. (Não tem nenhuma criança na sala de
aula). – Criança é contável.
There isn’t any milk in the jar. (Não tem nenhum leite na jarra). Leite é
incontável.
Exemplos: How many days did you spend in New York? (Quantos dias você
passou em Nova Iorque?)
How many times a year do you go to Brazil? (Quantas vezes por ano você vai
para o Brasil?).
How many people will you invite for the party? (Quantas pessoas você vai
convidar para a festa?).
How much milk should we drink a day? (Quanto de leite devemos beber por
dia?).
4. Be going to – Will: will e going to são utilizados para fazer referência a ações
que ocorrem no futuro.
a) Be going to: é utilizado para fazer referência a uma ação futura que indica
certeza ou que foi planejada. A estrutura be going to (verbo to be + going to)
também é a forma mais usada em conversas e em contextos informais.
They said they are going to arrive late. (Eles disseram que chegarão atrasados).
She told me she is going to travel to London next month. (Ela me disse que
viajará para Londres mês que vem).
b) Will: é usado para fazer referência a uma ação futura que indica incerteza. Essa
indicação costuma ser expressa através do uso do will com determinadas
palavras ou expressões como: maybe (talvez), I think (eu acho que),
Probably (provavelmente), I'm not sure (não tenho certeza), I guess (eu acho), I
don't know (eu não sei), I hope (eu espero que), I expect (eu espero que)...
Exemplos: Maybe he will not invite us. (Talvez ele não vá nos convidar.)
I think they will arrive late. (Eu acho que eles chegarão atrasados.)
She will probably travel to London next month. (Ela provavelmente viajará para
Londres mês que vem.
*Will também é utilizado quando uma decisão é tomada no momento da
fala.
She didn't reply my message. I will call her to see if everything's fine. (Ela não
respondeu minha mensagem. Vou ligar para ela para ver se está tudo bem.)
Exemplo: Sally is stronger than Bob. (Sally é mais forte do que Bob).
Exemplo: John is the oldest student in class. (John é o aluno mais velho da
turma).

7. Can (poder, saber fazer algo) - Ability (habilidade), Permission (permissão,
pedir ou fazer um pedido), Possibility (possibilidade):
b. Possibility: It can rain tomorrow (Pode chover amanhã ou Pode ser que chova
amanhã).
I can come tomorow. (Eu posso vir amanhã ou Pode ser que eu venha amanhã).
I can do it right now. (Posso fazer isso agora mesmo ou Pode ser que eu faça
isso agora mesmo).
The children can play in the park. (As crianças podem brincar no parque).
Can you lend me your car? (Você pode me emprestar seu carro?)
No, you can't. You have your homework to do. (Não, não pode. Você tem sua
lição a fazer).
8. Fruits and Vegetables (Frutas e Vegetais): ver as figuras no número 10 da
página 11 do livro de Inglês.
Exemplo: She liked the English teacher. (Ela gostou da professora de inglês).
Exemplo: She did not like the English teacher. (Ela não gostou da professora de
inglês).
Exemplo: Did she like the English teacher? (Ela gostou da professora de
inglês?).
Verbos terminados em “o”, “z”, “ss”, “ch”, “sh”, “x”, é preciso acrescentar
“es” no final do verbo: go (ir) – goes, to Kiss (beijar) – kisses, to fix (consertar) –
fixes.
b. Negative Form: é formada com o uso dos verbos auxiliares “do” e “does”.
“Do” é usado com os pronomes I, you, we e they. Já o auxiliar “does” é usado
com he, she, it. O verbo sempre é usado no infinitivo sem o “to”. Sua estrutura é
“sujeito + verbo auxiliar + not + verbo principal + complemento”.
He does not teach Spanish at the university. (Ele não ensina espanhol na
universidade).
*As frases negativas podem ser escritas de forma completa (do not ou does
not) ou na forma contraída (don't ou doesn't).
c. Interrogative Form: é formada com o uso dos auxiliares “do” e “does”. “Do” é
usado com I, you, we e they, e “does” é usado com he, she e it. O verbo sempre
é usado no infinitivo sem o to. Sua estrutura é “verbo auxiliar + sujeito + verbo
principal + complemento”.
Futuro com Will: usamos o “will” para indicar uma ideia de futuro que pode
expressar incerteza ou ser decidida no momento da fala.
Exemplo: They will buy a new house. (Eles comprarão uma casa nova).
*A forma afirmativa também pode ser utilizada na forma contraída 'll no lugar
de will.
Exemplo: We will not go out tonight. (Nós não sairemos hoje à noite.)
*A forma negativa também pode ser utilizada na forma contraída. Para isso,
basta usar won't no lugar de will not.
Exemplos: Will they buy a new house? (Eles comprarão uma casa nova?).
Futuro com “going to”: usamos going to para indicar uma ação futura que já está
planejada e que com certeza irá acontecer em um futuro próximo.
Exemplos: She is going to have lunch with Mary. (Ela almoçará com a Mary.)
They are going to arrive later today. (Eles chegarão mais tarde hoje.)
Exemplos: She is going to have lunch with Mary. = She's going to have lunch
with Mary. (Ela almoçará com a Mary.)
They are going to arrive later today. = They're going to arrive later today. (Eles
chegarão mais tarde hoje.)
b. Negative Form: sua estrura é “sujeito + verbo to be (am, is are) + not + going
to + verbo principal no infinitivo sem o “to” + complemento.
Exemplos: She is not going to have lunch with Mary. (Ela não almoçará com a
Mary.)
They are not going to arrive later today. (Eles não chegarão mais tarde hoje.)
*A forma negativa também pode ser utilizada na forma contraída do verbo to be:
is + not = isn't (it, he, she) ou are + not = aren't (you, we, they.)
Exemplos: She is not going to have lunch with Mary = She isn't going to have
lunch with Mary. (Ela não almoçará com a Mary.)
They are not going to arrive later today = They aren't going to arrive later
today. (Eles não chegarão mais tarde hoje.)
c. Interrogative Form: sua estrutura é Verbo to be (am, is, are) + sujeito + going
to + verbo principal no infinitivo sem o “to” + complemento.
