RESUMO
Skin aging is a physiological process affected by intrinsic and extrinsic factors that
affects all human beings. Thus, as age advances, the structure of the largest organ in
the body and the first protective barrier, ie the skin, is modified. Ascorbic acid or also
known as Vitamin C is an essential substance for body functions, thus defending the
body against infections and aiding in the absorption of iron. In addition, it has been
widely used in cosmetics and dermocosmetics in order to treat the damage caused
by free radicals and fight skin aging through its antioxidant action, aid in collagen
formation and inhibition of melanogenesis, in addition to presenting a great possibility
of association with other techniques capable of enhancing its absorption and
delivering the best results. The following work aims to analyze how vitamin C acts in
the skin aging process and its benefits, so this analysis will be made from descriptive
and qualitative research, where this research method provides a possibility to
analyze and explore focusing on the subject, using already published bibliographies
and obtaining different paths of knowledge, making it possible to adhere to various
positions during the project, for the construction of a scientific analysis on the studied
topic.
Keywords: Ascorbic acid. Antioxidant. Skin aging. Skin. Free radicals.

aparentes.
