Esse tipo de construção frasal é muito comum nos noticiários,

principalmente nas manchetes que omitem o agente da ação.
Passive voice – some uses
Para enfatizar a ação ou o objeto da
ação e não quem a praticou.

Ex: The new Game of Thrones book was bought by Julia.

(O novo livro de Game of the Thrones foi comprado por Julia.)

Para omitir o sujeito da ação

Ex: The house was cleaned.
(A casa foi limpa.)

Em resumo → Usamos a passive voice quando a pessoa que pratica a ação é desconhecida ou
não é relevante ao tipo de informação que queremos passar. Você quer dar ênfase à ação, não à
pessoa.
