The Astronomy Cults and Heresies

(240+ FLAT EARTH Proof Texts)

INTRO
This is critique of the 240 proof teats that the Flat Earther cult uses. This cult is an
outgrowth of the older geocentric heresy promoted by astronomy, professor Bouw. Flat
Earthers have expanded Bouw’s theory into the flat earth heresy. Simply, Bouw’s
Geocentric Heresy, namely, the sun revolves around a stationary earth that does not
move or rotate. Like most cults, Flat Earthers just give multiple scripture addresses to
prove their views with very little rationale’. I have had to laboriously include the texts
into their scripture addresses and have condensed these texts to the bare minimum,
trying to preserve their points. The 240 proof texts are arranged in a couple of dozen
main categories. I briefly added my polemic comments to their texts. The premise of the
Flat earth cult is that the earth is completely “flat” and not round but flat with possibly
four curved ends. Their earth supposedly has four corners or quarters and is under a
glass, dome shaped firmament. As with most cults the flat earthers rely on metaphoric,
symbolic, figurative, and even poetic language to prove their false, dogmatic views. Flat
Earthers wish to be heard but refuse to hear any opposing views that challenges them.
Not one of the following 240 flat earth proof texts clearly states that the earth is flat.
Flat earthers tell us that these texts must be connected together per their understanding

Psa 19:4 Their LINE is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of
the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
Pro 25:2, 3 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to
search out a matter. The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of
kings IS unsearchable.
Jer 31:37 Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the
foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel

Jer 31:39 And the measuring LINE shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill

While we must admit that we cannot answer these question personally, but neither can
the flat earthers answer these questions. We agree that the breadth of the earth could not
be measured when this was written. However if the earth were flat as claimed, could it
have been measured then. Still the measuring “line” was flexible and could measure
around and over things. Needless to say, the earth has been measured in our time. Sill,
the vast heaven cannot be measured even now, nor can the stars be numbered. But can
the flat earthers give us the depth measurement of their flat earth with the oceans
included? Notice the two words used in Psalm 19:4, “earth” and “world.” See Strong’s

4. Earth is a Disk/Circle, not a ball: Isaiah 40:22, Proverbs 8:27, Job 38:13-14
Isa 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof
are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens AS a curtain, and spreadeth them
out AS a tent to dwell in:
Pro 8:27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the
face of the depth:
Job 38:13, 14 That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might
be shaken out of it? It
is TURNED as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment.
Here we have highly figurative or metaphoric language. The text does not say a ball, a
sphere, or a disk. So, both sides of the issue must interpret what the circle of the earth
means, including the part where God sits on it, in the light of earth being God’s
footstool and not his chair. Unfortunately for flat earthers, Job 38:13, 14 indicates an
earth that is turned like the clay against the potter’s seal (which inscribes something on
the clay) as the clay rotates like the earth. Moreover, setting a COMPASS on the deep
indicates roundness rather than straightness. If the earh is a disk, it is unusually thick,
considering the depth of gthe ocean in some places. Also, it contradicts the Flat earther
claim\ that the earth is rectanguler wigth four corners, something verfy unusual for a

5. Earth Measured with a Line, not a curve: Job 38:4-5
Job 38:4, 5 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou
hast understanding. 5. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath
stretched the line upon it?
None of the words, in the English or Greek, namely “Foundations, measures, line, or
stretch” mean or imply that the earth is not round or curved. In fact, the word
“stretched” has the implication of a flexible “line” (or rule) that is “bent” in Hebrew.
The line would of necessity be bent when it goes over the mountains and hills. No flat

Flat Earth NOTE: Ezekiel 45:1 represents a length of approximately 52 miles and a
width of approximately 20 miles without any CURVATURE, only FLAT.

Neither the length nor the breadth of this piece of land with borders implies flatness or
lack of curvature. No one then or now would notice any curvature due to the small
sampling of the whole earth as one walks off this land. Still, there is the problem of the

Since the flat-earthier position is redundant, we must be redundant. Of course a
“plain” is flat and level as opposed to hills and mountains. This does not demand that
the whole earth is a “plain.” Plains can and do exist on a spherical earth as do hills and
mountains and valleys. Distorting the English language does not establish the flat-
earther’s heresy. The English word does indicate flatness without trees or mountains.
The two underlying Greek words indicate only a level space (occupied here). Neither
the English nor the Greek gives us a whole earth that is flat or an earth free from

It is amazing how Flat Earthers can manipulate nuances of language to force their
views. Our Concordance Clarence does not get the job done, but he does manage to find
a repetitive overemphasis of the word straight and straight paths to imagine a flat earth.
Such manipulation of words is disturbing. Of course, this gets them a large quantity of
proof texts. What should these folks have been told, “Walk a curved path to get
somewhere?” Rivers are not always straight. The language used here is how folks
understood straight then and now to mean without any idea of scientific reality. No flat

Flat-Earther Mistake on the Water
8. Waters are STRAIT, not curved: Job 37:10
Job 37:10 By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is
STRAITENED. This is a most ridiculous of all the Flat-Earther “straight” proof texts in
that the word “STRAITENED” is a completely different word with an entirely different
meaning. This passage tells us that the waters were crowded or narrowed. The passage,
Job 37:10, has nothing to do with the word straight versus curved. It shows the
desperation of a cult that is trying to prove its heresy. No Flat Earth here! – Herb Evans
Earth Does Not Move
9. Earthquakes shake Earth, and it does not move: 2 Samuel 22:8, Isaiah 13:13,
Revelation 6:12-13
2 Sam 22:8 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved
and shook. . .
Isa 13:13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her
place . . .
Rev 6:12, 13, 14 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a
great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became
as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her
untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed as a scroll
when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their
places.
Of course, these proof-texts do not prove that the earth does not move. Quite the
contrary, Isaiah 13:13 proves that the earth will one day be removed out of its place
whatever that place is at the time. This disproves the view that the earth cannot be

2 Pet 3:5, 6 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the
heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed . . .
First of all, God tells people to fear and be still and not the earth to be still and know
that I am God. The
Physical earth does not fear, sing, or know anything. Second, 1 Chron 16::30 says that
the world and its
inhabitants shall be stable under normal circumstances and not be moved. Psalm 33:8, 9
clearly is talking about
the earth’s inhabitants and not its physical appearance. Psalm 93: again says “world”
and not earth. Psalm 104:5
talks about the foundations as not being pillars but rather as a dwelling place, and
translates the word AS earth
but elsewhere translates it AS “world” as we have noted. In Psalm 119:90 the word is
translated “earth.” Flat
earthers imagine the words establish and stable and rest to mean it to be fixed with no
rotation and no
movement around the sun. We have already quoted the flat-earther proof-text that
demonstrates the Earth like
clay turning against the potter’s seal, which inscribes things on the clay as it turns on the
potter’s wheel. During
the flood, we wonder how the flat earth stood out of the water? Or how the water did
not spill off the ends of the
earth? No flat earth here!
Job 38:13, 14 That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might
be shaken out of it? It

Earth Sets on Physical Pillars

Job 26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon
nothing.
Psa 75:3 The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it.

While we would agree that the earth (elsewhere translated world) hangeth upon
nothing) we call it space.
Therefore if it is hanging upon nothing, it needs no physical pillars to support it.
Obviously the earth’s inhabitants are included in this world; Since the Hebrew for
pillars is poetically a stand, which we take to mean the earth’s axis on the potter’s stand.
So much for speculation! How do the heavens shake, and what supports heaven’s
foundations. By the Lord Jesus all things consist) Col. 1:17). The church is the pillar
and ground of the truth or the support and basis of the truth in First Timothy 3:15. No

The word “face” is defined by flat-earthers as a geometrically flat surface (the key
word). Still, the definition is faulty in that the word is used in the Hebrew and the
English as the face of the observed ground and as the observed faces of humans which
are not flat and even the face of God, who does not have a face. Still, we regard the term
as used to mean the surface of a thing having no certain scientific meaning. Obviously,
the conclusion to the flat earther view is that people were driven off and cut off from the
ends of their so called flat rectangular earth. How is that possible? Yet, some shall be
buried on the face of the earth. Shall we forget that the surface of the earth is not all flat
if we consider the mountains and hills and valley? No flat earth here! – Herb Evans
The Oceans Have a Face

Again, the reasonable meaning of the word “face” seems to be "surface.” Of course, we
might also consider that Genesis 1:2 states that the earth was then without form.
Needless to say flatness is not indicated by these proof texts. Even the ground or soil

The Abysaal Plains?
14. In reference to Genesis 1:2, have you ever heard of the abyssal plains? Abyssal
plains cover more than 50% of earth. Also they are some of the flattest smoothest areas
on earth. It is impossible for the abyssal plains to cover more than 50% of the earth and
for the earth to be a sphere; perhaps, the earth is "flat?"

The flat earther’s “perhaps, the earth is flat” is most significant due to the flatness of
the ocean floor, namely the “abysaal plains.” Well, touché’! Perhaps the earth is not
flat but rather round. All that we see here is that the earth was without form. Needless to

say, flatness of the earth is not indicated by any of these proof texts. What we have here
is a failure to communicate. There is not one verse produced by the flat-earthers that
clearly states that the earth is flat. Instead, many verses are introduced with manipulated
interpretation to prove such a premise. What is happening here is that some folks are
trying to take us back to the horse and buggy days without any of us having a horse and

Obviously the ends of the earth are being made to mean something else than what they
are. The queen of
the south came to Solomon from Ethiopia and not from the uttermost parts of the flat
earther type earth. Did the tree of Belteshazzar really reach heaven? Did his kingdom
really reach the ends of the flat earth? Similar expressions of the regions beyond and
uttermost parts of earth and the ends of the world having three different underlying
words that are used for it, namely, the earth in general, the Roman Empire, and the
present and future eons (Isa 22:27, Rom 10:18, 1 Cor 10:11). No flat earth here! –

Indeed, the literal meaning of corner is an angle or a corner of something as it is used

in everyday building projects. Nevertheless, in consolidating the four Flat–Earther
proof-texts, it produces nothing more than wind sources. The quarter and corners are
meant as direction to and from the points of the compass in the sense of source and
destination in regard to the earth’s extremities. Do the ends of the earth TURN? No flat

 Flat Earth note: For we are told in Psalm 19:1, "The heavens declare the glory of El;
and the firmament sheweth his handywork." A man who is determined to undermine
the scriptural proof of the firmament, undermines the handywork of Yahweh. The
following notes are a response to those who deny that a physical "firmament/dome"
structure is being stretched above our heads. If anyone is causing a divide/wedge over
the true existence of the dome/firmament it is the obstinance of the man's refusal to
accept God's Word for His firmament. Ezekiel 1:22-26, Ezekiel 10:1 - The analogies of
the "firmament" make no sense without a literal "firmament." Some translations use the
word "troop." Have you researched the original Hebrew meaning of that word?
"Strong's 92 OT (Hebrew 'aguddahag-ood-daw' feminine passive participle of an unused
root (meaning to bind); a band, bundle, knot, or arch:--bunch, burden, troop." Did you
see the word "arch" in there? Again, no inconsistency in God's Word. Daniel 12:3 - Just
as the firmament is described as firm like a molten looking glass, it has a hardened
surface from which a "shine" can occur. Revelation 6:14 - What is being "departed as a
scroll when it is rolled together?" Revelation 4:6 - See Job 37:18.
With understanding the properties of water, it requires a physically hardened
substance to keep it contained. Thus, a dome/firmament is not only logic, but is within
the proper context of scripture (Gen 1:6-8). From the "north" is being "stretched" over
what empty place? (Job 26; 7). The premise of this verse is a "question" being posed, in
order to put "man" in perspective to the Creator. In that teaching moment Yashuah
reveals a truth about the "expanse," that it is "strong" just like a "molten looking
glass."(Job 37:18) What is being "spanned" by Yashuah in the heavens (Isa. 48:17)?
This verse shares the same language Job 26:7. What in the "heavens" is being "stretched
out" as a curtain? (Isa 40:22)? What heavens" are "spread out that would allow us to
live under it as a "tent?"(Isa 40:22)/ Again, what is being "stretched" in the heavens?
(Isa 44:24)? This verse, Isaiah 45:12, is in agreement with Job 26:7 and Job 37:18, as
well as, there is no contradiction within the inspired words of Yashuah. Only a fool is
willing to declare Yashuah a liar by stating that His hands have NOT stretched out the
heavens." Let Yashuah be true and every man a liar." (Romans 3:4). Acts 7:56 - If the
"heavens" are only the open expanse/sky, why would it have to be re-opened? What is
being "opened?" Perhaps, the firmament (Acts 7:56)?
Gen 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it
divide the waters from
the waters. 7. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under
the firmament from the
waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. 8. And God called the
firmament Heaven.
Gen 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide
the day from the night;
and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15. And let them be
for lights in the
firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. 16. And God made

Thee proof text, Genesis 1:20, tells us that the birds fly in the open firmament of
heaven. So the firmament or expanse is not necessarily as high as flat earthers imply.
The proof-text, Psalm 19:1, demand that one sees the glory of God, and the firmament
showeth His handywork. Naturally, we do not see a glass dome, but we see rather the
stars and the sun and the moon and some of the planets at times. The commentators use
the word expanse to describe the firmament, a word that even is used above by this flat
earther; the flat earther cult ignores the context of his own proof-texts, namely Ezekiel
1: 22-26. Here the expanse is above the heads of the living creature whose colour was of
crystal. In the Firmament or expanse above the living creature was the LIKENESS of a
THRONE. Upon the LIKENESS of that throne was A LIKENESSS OF A MAN UPON
IT. Of course, we see no such thing as we gaze up into the bright firmament. We see no
glass dome. We do see birds sometimes. Moreover, God does not make modern glass;
man does such in these later times. God makes the crystal minerals but also makes and
ice and hail, Hebrew derivatives. The troop in Amos 9:6 is not an arch. It is a troop like
it is in 2 Sam 2:25. Flat Earthers see the firmament as a shiny glass dome. Naturally, if
one takes the definition of a cult, one is finished before he starts. Was the curtain and
the tent canvas? Of course cults always think that they are right and that all the
commentators are wrong.
Obviously, we believe in a literal firmament in that we believe in a literal expanse
with stars in it. We call it
“space.” We also believe in a firmament where birds fly. Without being a physical
entity, the firmament is
strong enough to hold all the galaxies together. But it says it is strong “AS” a molten
looking glass. Of course,
the idea here is a METAL mirror or looking glass as was the case in the O.T. and N.T.
Whatever significance
the word “molten” may prove to either side of the issue is beyond me (Isa 45:12

Flat Earth NOTE: The Bible uses words that describe the sun, with only a few known
exceptions, as "moving," though some believe that words like "rising" and "down"
imply the sun is moving "up" and "down" over the alleged curvature of the earth. In
addition to spinning globe earth believing Christians completely missing the fact that
the Bible uses words which describe the sun as "moving" they also fail to analyze the
original Hebrew and Greek meaning of those same words. The original Hebrew and
Greek words have meanings, such as, to come, to go, to irradiate (or shoot forth beams),
to appear, as soon as it appears, eastside, eastward, an entrance, the west, by which
came, as cometh, in coming, entering, entrance into, entry, where goeth, westward. And,
these words are relating to the placement ("direction") of the sun in relation to the
context of the particular Biblical account. Unless one is willing to depart from the true
meanings of these words and cause contradictions with other verses that state the earth
as being FLAT, there is no case to be made for the sun to be "rising or "going down"
over the alleged curvature of the imaginary and unprovable ball/sphere shaped earth. To
research the original Hebrew and Greek of the words in any of the verses referenced on

What we have here is a cultist that thinks that he will be heard for his much speaking.
Over and over, this heretic is redundant with repetitive proof-texts that prove nothing.
He points out the rising of the sun, the sun being risen, the sun going down, the sun
ariseth, the sun is up, the sunrising, This is language that men use even in our modern
era. It does not prove the earth is flat or that the sun goes around the earth. In either
model, whether geocentric or heliocentric, such language applies. In both models, the
sun does not literally rise, go down, or set. In the geocentric model, the sun goes
around the earth. In the heliocentric model, the earth goes around the sun. Such models
demand that the sun does not literally rise, go down, and go up. To take this loose
cannon literally you would have to believe that the sun beat on Jonah’s head literally in
Jonah 4:8.
Exod 16:21 And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating:
and when the SUN WAXED HOT, it melted.
 Jonah 4:8 . . . the sun did arise . . . and the SUN BEAT UPON THE HEAD of
Jonah,
Did the sun beat on the head of Jonah? Did the sun BECOME HOT or is it always
HOT. You mean you do not believe the Bible?
Proof That the Sun Stops

Isa 60:20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself:
Job 9:7 Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.
Hab 3:11 The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows
they went, and at the shining of thy glittering spear.
Isa 60:20 is not talking about the past or the present; it is talking about the future. Job
9:7 is talking about God’s ability to command the sun to never rise. It never has
happened unless you have a reference.
Hab 3:11 does not reference the time of this event. We are surprised that this heretic
did not post the main proof text of geocentrists and flat earthers, namely, Joshua 10:12,
13.
Josh 10:12, 13 12:Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD
delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel,
Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. 13: And
the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves
upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in
the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
Far be it from us Bible believers to refuse an event in which folks looked up at the sky
and saw the sun stopped and even the moon stayed. Of course this is a recorded
observation like the rest of the flat earth proof-texts. How did the moon stay? Is it a disk
or a ball? Human observation is not science and cannot be grasped b y flat earthers.
Proof That the Sun Moves backward
21. Sun moves BACKWARDS: 2 Kings 20:8-11
2 Kings 20:8 -11 And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the
LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day? 9:
And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the
thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten
degrees? 10: And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten
degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees. 11 And Isaiah the prophet
cried unto the LORD: and he
brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of
Ahaz.
Well according to flat earther assumption, the sun must move forward as well. But
because the sundial shadow moved does not meant that the sun moved. Flat Earthers
assume that, but let us suppose that it was the sun that caused the sundial shadow to
move. Both scientific models would produce the same miracle. Whether the sun moved
10 degrees forward and then 10 degrees backward or the earth rotated 10 degrees one
way and then 10 degrees in the other direction. We believe this scripture, but we do not
believe flat earth assumptions or their heretical interpretations.
Proof tether Moon does not Reflect Sun’s Light

Not one of these flat earth proofs- texts prove that the moon has its on light. On the
contrary, these proof texts prove that the moon reflects the light from the sun, just like
believers reflect the light of the SON. In all these situations both the sun and the moon
are involved. When the sun is darkened or covered the moons light will not shine. In the
situation where the sun is seven times brighter, so the moon shall be as the light of the
sun. Future events do not count in order to prove the present

Yes, the future Jerusalem is a huge cube and future tree reaches heaven; so, what else
is new. I would like to
know what mountain that was where you could see the kingdoms of all the earth at the
ENDS of the earth as flat
earthers describe them.
Breadth

Rev 20:9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of
the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and
devoured them.
As for Gen 13:17, it seems the measurement of land as to its length and breadth, it
has not changed as far as length and breadth. No one seems to have a problem anywhere
on the earth in measuring how land long and how wide land was. In regard to the width
of the earth question I Job38:18, I doubt whether anyone back then could answer how
wide whether it was round or flat. In Isa 42:5, God stretched out the heavens and spread
forth the earth when He created them. I have nor problem with that. As for Rev 20:9, all
I see is Satan and his hordes going onto the breadth of the earth and encircled the
camp of the saints, and God devoured them with fire from heaven. I see no FLAT
EARTH in these, unless it is forced into the passages. – Herb Evans

Matthews Bible from 1537 says “Flat Earth”: 2 Samuel 11:11.

Sooner or later, the cults come up with another version which they can force into their
false theories. Still, this is the closest that you can get is the spread out fields from
Strong’s. The King James Bible says open fields

Finally, a statement with which I can agree. Still the author belongs to a cult and is a
