Marcos Colón received his PhD in Cultural Studies from the University
of Wisconsin-Madison in 2019 and currently teaches in the Public Health
Program at Florida State University. He produced and directed the
feature documentary Beyond Fordlândia: An Environmental Account of
Henry Ford’s Adventure in the Amazon (2018) and focuses his research
on studies of representations of the Amazon in Brazilian literature and
cinema in the 20th and 21st centuries. He is the founder and editor-in-
chief of Amazônia Latitude, a digital magazine about the environment. He
is currently working on a book based on experiences filming the region.
Pisar Suavemente na Terra (2022) is his second feature film.
