Os Estudos sobre natureza-morta se apropriam de elementos que provocam tensões visuais, para fazer

uma crítica sobre tradições da arte ocidental. Repensando os conceitos de morte e inanimado, criando
uma estranha convivência onde o conflito é estabelecido pelo corpo negro e o ambiente que o abriga.
Nessa série, procuro “pensar como um pintor” que estuda a luz, os ambientes e o território onde cria.
Assim, me permito andar pelo meu território e construir imagens dentro do espaço íntimo, em lugares
abertos e desenvolver imagens que apontam para uma ressignificação da noção de retrato e natureza
morta. Colocando o olhar das pessoas (negras) e seu corpo, em um movimento que revida e exige uma
existência além dos estereótipos. Reorganizando as regras da feitura da imagem. As imagens falam
sobre um lugar, mas não um lugar fixo, estático, e sim da memória, sugerindo um ambiente de passagem
carregado de presenças outras, antigas e novas, do território que me atravessa e de um tempo em
suspensão e movimento.

Studies on still life

I used elements that provoke visual tensions, in order to criticize the tradition of Western art. Rethinking
the concepts of death and the inanimate, a strange coexistence where the conflict is established by the
black body and the environment that shelters it. I try to “think like a painter” who studies light,
environments and territory. In this way, I allow myself to walk through my territory and build images within
the intimate space, in open spaces and develop images that point to a re-signification of the notion of
portrait and still life. With the point of view of black people about themselves, in a movement that fights
back and demands an existence beyond stereotypes.
