LINKING CONSONANT + CONSONANT

Quando uma palavra termina em consoante e a palavra seguinte começa com a mesma consoante, você deve
pronunciar somente a consoante inicial da segunda palavra.

It's hot today.

We have a book club.

I saw a black cat.

There's a gas station around the corner.

Preposições de local
ON – em (expressa a ideia de cobrir uma superfície, uma área)

Exemplos:
The toy is on the carpet.
The bucket is on the floor.

Também usamos ON para referir à:

Aparelhos:
on the screen - na tela
on TV – na tv
on the internet – na internet
on video – no vídeo
on the radio – no radio

AT – em (Posição geral, aos arredores)

Para se referir aos locais,prédios, instituições:

I met my wife at a club.
She is at the university.
I work at home.
Para eventos:
We are at a party.
She is at the meeting.
IN – (ou inside, dentro de algo ou algum lugar)

The desk is in my office.

The broom is in the closed.
He ate in the kitchen.

Também é utilizado para ruas, bairros, estados, países....etc.

Seattle is the most beautiful city in the world.
Obs: On também é usado para ruas e avenidas maiores principalmente no Inglês americano:
She lives on 3th avenue in New York.

Note a diferença!
I’m lying on the beach! (na areia)
We have a house at the beach! ( no local onde fica a praia)

We sat at the table. ( sentamos à mesa)

The vase is on the table. ( em cima da mesa)
Da mesma forma :
em frente a ( prep.+ front of)
atrás de (prep. + back of),
em cima de (prep. + on top of),
em baixo de (prep. + on bottom of)
Exemplos:
The picture is on the front of this t-shirt.
We sit at the back of the bus.
Turn left at the top of the stairs.
Turn right at the bottom of the stairs.

Exemplo:

Exemplo:
The chandelier is above the table.

The stove is next to the counter.
